These Release Notes describe the new features and changes available in this release of the Trimble Perspective software.

New features and enhancements

Trimble X9 support

The Trimble X9 gives you the power to do more. Features include a capture rate of 1 million points per second, a range of 150 meters, auto calibration and leveling, and improved sensitivity for difficult environments. The Trimble X9 is also unrestricted while using the Indoor mode to perform area scans and use the laser pointer.

Improved point cloud colorization and panoramas

An updated image stitching process delivers improved point cloud colorization and high quality panorama images. Improvements also apply to the junction between Face 1 and Face 2.

Export high quality panorama images

Export your high quality panorama images from Perspective in a JPEG format for viewing in panoramic viewing software.

Export selected stations

Export only the stations you choose with the new select station export. Options include exporting a single station, multiple stations, or registration sets.

Atmospheric corrections for X9

Capture your project with better accuracy by applying atmospheric corrections. Enter the atmospheric temperature and pressure of your site into Perspective to calculate and apply the ppm correction to observed distances.

New codec` for improved TZF compression

Enhanced TZF file compression results in smaller file sizes for faster download times.

Rename registration sets

Add more context to your project by renaming registration sets to match the characteristics of your site.

Language options for Finnish and Romanian

Perspective translations now include Finnish and Romanian options.

The released version of Trimble Perspective is 3.2.1.2111. The latest firmware versions for the X-series laser scanners are as follows, Trimble X7 (2.5.100), Trimble X9 (1.0.1.0337) and Trimble X12 (10.0.1.11608).

Resolved issues

  • Area Scan Labels: added area scan labels in station view

  • Area Scan: potential duplication of area scan and image download

  • Area Scan: resolved crash issue when station containing an area scan is deleted

  • Area Scan: resolved application unresponsiveness when multiple area scans are queued

  • Color Coded Intensity: improved rendering quality for station-based viewing

  • Colorization: area scan colorization failure when using non high quality panorama

  • Connectivity: reconnects to scanner even if it's manually disconnected

  • Database Connection: resolved potential database connection issue introduced with 3.1.1

  • Diagnostics: cause application unresponsiveness requiring a restart

  • Diagnostics Report: overtilt error shown in wrong column of report

  • Download Notification: not downloaded notification persists after restarting the download

  • Georeferencing: control point missing from key plan until navigation to trigger refresh

  • Import Control Points: added numbers to identify each line within the control file

  • Laser Pointer: display issue when the user physically blocks the instrument rotation

  • Laser Pointer: measured and displayed point mismatch

  • Laser Pointer: scanner options restricted while measuring a precision point

  • Precision Point: potential view rotation after measuring a precision point

  • Project Export: restricted special character usage for export path

  • RCP and POD Exports: missing message to warn user of long processing time

  • RCP Export: missing panorama images from export

  • Registration Refinement: registration report generated after failed refinement

  • Rendering Setting: resolved potential icon and rendering setting mismatch

  • SD Card: incorrect SD card storage displayed when no SD card is found

  • Split view: point cloud not viewable in split view

  • Split view: station selected from list is used as reference station

  • Tilt Compensation: full dome tilt compensation used for area scans in gridded exports

  • Unleveled Scans: area scan, laser pointer and precision point functionality for unleveled scans

  • Warranty: added message to notify of warranty expiration

  • WiFi Settings: warning added when trying to save a new password when a task is ongoing in the scanner
