Radio coverage

When using 2.4 GHz radio, the antennas must have line of sight to achieve good communication and maximum radio coverage. Objects such as bushes and trees between the antennas can decrease the coverage with the risk of losing radio connection. If radio connection is lost, try to obtain line of sight between the antennas to restore connection.

In urban environments it is possible to obtain a radio connection even though there is no line of sight between the antennas. The reason for this is that the radio signal can bounce between buildings and against parked cars, and so on, thereby providing a better radio coverage. In an open field the line of sight becomes more critical as the radio signal does not have anything to bounce against.

Ensure that there are no metal objects near the antenna.

How to achieve best radio coverage

Angle the antennas vertically towards each other.

Make sure that your body, or any other objects are not between the antennas, as this will result in a radio shadow that leads to shorter radio coverage.
