Optical plummet
The instrument is equipped with an optical plummet, which has 2× magnification and a focusing range of 0.5 m to infinity. The instrument can be positioned to an accuracy of 0.5 mm at 1.5 m over a ground mark.
As shown in the image above:

To focus the cross-hairs, rotate the eye-piece.

To focus the optical plummet to the ground, push in or pull out the optical plummet.
