Workflows for civil engineers and contractors

Civil Engineers and Contractors are often working with highly complex CAD data from a range of sources. To prepare a successful visualization within SiteVision it is crucial to spend some time preparing the data in your native CAD authoring application.

In particular consider the following guidelines for CAD-based workflows:

• Hide or remove any unnecessary layers or information. Actively select the minimum number of layers and pieces of data required to perform the visualization. This will ensure you get the best possible performance from the SiteVision app.

• Consider rationalizing a large number of layers by combining information to provide more control during the visualization. CAD data will often be spread across many hundreds of layers, however a large number of layers can be difficult to manage during a visualization.

  You can also use the SiteVision Manager to control default visibility of CAD layers.

• Check for 0, or -9999 elevation data. SiteVision operates in a fully 3D environment; if your data has inconsistent or erroneous elevation information it will not present well.
