Cross Section View
The software supports displaying any type of surface cross section in the cross section view.
When a surface offset is applied to a surface, both the original template cross section and the offset template cross section are displayed in the cross section view. The original surface appears as a dashed line, while the offset surface appears as a solid line.
While in the measure feature with a template surface selected as the active surface, the cross section segment you are currently over/under is highlighted. A vertical line from your location (in the cross section view) to the highlighted segment is also drawn.
When staking a VCL alignment, the cross section view generally shows the alignment’s location marked by a small dot underneath a CenterLine icon and the entered offset location required to be staked as an open green circle. A red line is typically drawn connecting the two locations. If there are no elevations for either the alignment (HAL only) or the required stake point (elevation set to “Ignore”), then there is no display in the cross section view. When the Elevation Method is set to Vertical Offset in the Station Selection screen, a vertical line represents the vertical offset and a horizontal line represents the horizontal offset to the required stake location. For all other elevation methods, a straight line is drawn from the alignment’s position to the required offset position location.
