Beacon Signal Configuration

Use this page to configure the beacon.

Select Beacon / Configuration.

Tune Mode – Select one of the following modes from the list:

  • Disable – Select this option to disable the beacon signal tracking.

  • Auto Power – Select this option to search for and use the strongest beacon signal available.

  • Auto Range – Select this option to search for and use the closest beacon station as defined by the internal beacon almanac.

NOTE – The internal beacon almanac cannot be edited, however additional information is automatically added when a valid RTCM type 7 message is received from a beacon station when the receiver is locked onto it.

  • Manual – Select this option if you know the frequency of the beacon station you want to use. Enter the frequency in kHz in the range 283.5 kHz to 325 kHz.

  • IDxxx kHz – The last three entries in the list are the closest three beacon station IDs selected from the internal almanac with respect to the current receiver location.

Beacon Database – The receiver maintains its own database of IALA Beacon Reference stations and the latest radiobeacon almanac broadcast in the RTCM version 2, Type 7 or Type 27 messages. Both the database and the almanac are stored in flash memory in the receiver.

A beacon station can be added to the database from this page.

Broadcase Station ID – The IALA Transmitting Station ID number as published by the IALA.

Frequency – The transmitting frequency in KHz (283.5 to 325.0 KHz).

Latitude/Longitude – The reference station position (WGS-84 datum).

Station Name – The IALA reference station name as published by IALA.

Operation on database file:

  • Download File – Select this option and click OK to download a beaconDB.bcn text file that has the following delimited data for each radiobeacon station.

EXAMPLE – 1;36;2850;6776;16500;Temiyukskiy;

Field 1: Always '1' to denote start of record.

Field 2: Station ID.

Field 3: Frequency expressed as kHz x 10.

Field 4: WGS-84 Longitude expressed as an integer of decimal degrees x 182.

Field 5: WGS-84 Latitude expressed as an integer of decimal degrees x 364.

Field 6: Station name.

  • Delete File – Select this option and click OK to delete the file and restore the receiver to the factory installed database of IALA radiobeacon stations. Any user-added beacon stations will be lost.
