Using the PilotTech AIS Pilot Plug Wi-Fi device in a Trimble SPS585 PPU network

  1. Turn on the PilotTech AIS Pilot Plug Wi-Fi device and then connect your PC Wi-Fi to this device.

  2. In a browser, enter 192.168.1.1 and enter the passwords to access the web pages of the PilotTech AIS Pilot Plug.

  3. For operation in the Trimble SPS585 network, select Mode Selection and set this unit as a Client (STA Mode).


  4. Turn on the Trimble SPS585 PPU Moving Base receiver and ensure it is configured for Moving Base PPU mode. To set up this receiver, you can download Clone files. Leave the AP Interface Setting screen as default:

  5. In the PilotTech, STA Interface Setting screen, search for the SPS585 Moving Base Access Point, using the password abcdeabcde. Set up the fields, as shown:

    • In the IP Address field, enter 10.10.10.21.

    • In the Default Gateway field, enter 10.10.10.1.

    • Click Apply.


  6. Once this device is plugged into a ships’ Pilot Plug, and the Trimble SPS585 Moving Base PPU is on, then the AIS data is available on 10.10.10.21 on Port 8888. You can see this, and the connection to the Trimble SPS585 Moving Base (Access Point – 10.10.10.1) in the Application Setting screen:
