resident standard layer naming convention

A set of standardized layer names, which are consistently used within and throughout your organization in order to promote familiarity with layer names and recognition of subject matter based on those names.

A set of resident standard layers can be defined and named within the project templates that you employ, thereby having all of those layers predefined as you start a project. If you employ the Standardize Layers command in order to move imported data from its source layer to one of your organization’s standard layers, you will need to make sure that each of the resident standard layers defined within the template is ‘protected’.

Note that a resident standard layer naming convention differs from an external standard layering convention in that the former deals primarily with just layer names and properties, in addition to residing in its entirety in a project template.
