Enter a Vertical Angle

Use the Vertical Angle control to enter a slope angle by specifying a bearing in relation to the default bearing. The default bearing (and zero angle) is horizontal. Positive angles are measured up from 0 to <90 degrees. "Vertical angle" appears on the status bar when the command is active.

Vertical angle controls give you access to these snap commands on the context menu:

To specify a vertical angle:

  • Pick an anchor point in a graphic view. With the cursor "rubber-banding" from the default bearing, pick another point to specify the angle.
  • When in a Vertical angle control, right-click, select a snap command from the context menu, and specify the necessary parameters.
  • Type a value in the Vertical Anglebox, using one of the standard entry formats. Check and set the entry format in Project Settings by selecting Project Settings > Units > Vertical Angle > Display . Regardless of the display format you select, you can enter vertical angles in any of the formats:
    • Z45 (zenith angle of 45)
    • H45 (horizon angle of 45)
    • N135 (nadir angle of 135)
    • 100% (percent slope of 100)
    • 1:1 (ratio of rise of 1 to run of 1)

Note: Entering the correct slope ratio depends on your Slope ratio type setting (Rise to run or Run to rise) in Project Settings.
