Import SketchUp Files (.skp)

To import model data contained in a Trimble SketchUp (.skp) file into your project, follow the instructions in Import Data.

When you import a Trimble SketchUp (.skp) file, note the following:

  • Components and groups are imported as blocks.
  • Edges and curves are imported as CAD entities.
  • Faces are imported as surfaces triangles. (If the face is in a component, the edges of the face are imported as a surface boundary.)
  • If the model origin point coordinates were retained in a SKP file created in TBC and the SKP file is re-imported into TBC, the model is imported at the correct location. Otherwise, it is imported at 0,0,0.
  • Construction points, construction lines, and 3D polylines are not imported.

If you import a Trimble SketchUp (.skp) file using the Import command pane, you can enter Northing, Easting, and Elevation Offset values to specify the geometric location of the model in your project. If you import using drag-and-drop, the offsets will default to 0, 0, 0. You can, if necessary, use the Move Objects command to change the location of the model after import.
