Workflow for Creating Alignments

Create alignments by manually entering values from digital or paper plans. Here is the general workflow:

  1. Use the Create Alignment command to create a new, blank alignment, and open it in the Alignment Editor.
  2. Open a new horizontal tab group and arrange your views so that you can see the alignment spreadsheet and the appropriate graphic view (either Plan View or Profile View) concurrently.
  3. Enter horizontal alignment values from the paper or digital plans, or using the imported data as a reference. If necessary, enter vertical and station values as well.
  4. Open the Properties pane, and edit the alignment's appearance properties, as needed.
  5. Export the alignment to another application or upload it to a field device. You can export alignments as .dxf/.dwg, GENIO, or LandXML files.

Note: You can export an alignment to Trimble® Site Controller Software (SCS) as a .dxf/.dwg site or design map (loses stationing and spirals), or you can export it to Terramodel as a 3D LandXML file, which you can then upload to SCS software.
Note: If you export an alignment as a .dwg and then import it into another application as a .dxf/.dwg, any vertical alignments in the file may not appear.
