Update and Configure Your Graphics/Video Driver
To ensure the highest performance and most trouble-free graphics-viewing experience, you must ensure your graphics card has been updated with the latest driver (software) available. This is especially true when working with images and point clouds, which put tremendous demands on your computer's graphics display capabilities.
To determine which graphics driver your computer is using, go to Control Panel > Device Manager and expand the Display adapters list.
Note: If an Intel® integrated graphics adapter is the only item listed, it is highly recommended that you install a dedicated graphics card to avoid slow performance when viewing graphics in Trimble Business Center.
The best way to determine if your non-Intel graphics driver needs to be updated and, if so, perform the update is to visit the appropriate website and follow the instructions presented.
- AMD http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
- NVIDIA http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Always select the latest driver available for your card, whether it be a certified WHQL version or a BETA version. For example, if you have an NVIDIA GeForce Series card, you can select the Beta and Older Drivers option on the NVIDIA driver download page to find the latest BETA driver. (Or, you can check for the latest updates using the GeForce Experience Drivers page.) If you have an AMD Radeon Series card, you can select the Optional Downloads tab on the AMD driver download page to find the latest BETA driver.
Note: If you are using an AMD driver, you may need to change settings as necessary to switch between GPUs.
Optionally, you can perform an update from the Device Manager in Windows.
- In Microsoft Windows, go to Control Panel > Device Manager and expand the Display adapters node.
- Right-click the nested driver and select Update driver.
- Select the Search automatically option and follow the instructions.
Note: Windows may suggest using a Microsoft-approved WHQL version of the driver. However, to ensure you have the latest bug fixes and new features for your graphics card, it is recommended that you use the latest version available, which may not be the WHQL version.
