Set a Reminder to Save Your Project

Use Project management options to set a timed reminder that prompts you to save your project. When enabled, the Save reminder dialog appears at an interval you specify.

Caution: This feature is similar to "autosave" in other programs, but does not save for you because any time that you save your project, the 'stack' of actions that you can undo is cleared; you cannot undo past the last time you saved. This makes it difficult to go back to previous states of your project.

Prerequisites:

  • An open project in which undo-able actions have been performed

To access the command:

  • Select Options > General > Project Management.

Options:

  • Enable reminder – Check/uncheck this box to enable/disable the save prompt.
  • Reminder interval – Select how often (5, 10, 15 30, or 60 minutes) you want to be prompted to save.

Options in the Save Reminder dialog:

  • Do you want to save?
    • Yes – Select this to immediately save the project. The project is saved with the current name, which can be Unnamed if you have not previously saved.
    • No – Select this to restart the timer and continue working without saving.
  • Don’t ask me again for this session – Check this box to disable the save prompt until you restart the program.
  • Save Reminder settings - Click this link to access the timer interval in the Options dialog.

Scenarios:

  • If you have not made any undo-able changes in the interval since your last save, the Save reminder dialog will not appear. When you make your next undo-able change, the timer will restart.
