Select By Layer
Select data that resides on specific layers in your project.
Prerequisites:
- data on multiple layers
To select data by its layer:
- Choose Select by Layer in Home > Selection. The Select by Layer command pane displays.
- To select all of the objects on the layers in a layer group, press the [Shift] key when checking the box for one of the layers. All layers (and the objects that reside on them) in that layer's group will be selected. If the selected layer is not assigned to a layer group, there is no effect; only the individual laye is selected.
- Otherwise, check boxes next to layer names in the list to select all of the objects on those layers. Alternately, you can pick objects in graphic views to select all of the objects on the layers of the objects you pick (is not necessary to hold down the [Ctrl] to select multiple objects in this context).
The views and Project Explorer update to show the selected data.
Note: If you run the Select By Layer command while editing a corridor template, the layer list will be empty. This is because the active view (usually Plan View or Sheet View) defines what objects can be selected. The Select By Layer command retrieves the layers that are available for a particular view. The template view does not have any objects that can be selected by layer.
