Copy Project Library Files to a USB Flash Drive

Use the Library to USB command to copy field data from a project in a project library to a USB flash drive so it can be used in the field with Trimble Earthworks machines. When a project is copied to a USB flash drive, the library structure is preserved.

Use this command if:

  • The project library is stored locally on your computer.
  • The project library was created on the Connected Community (TCC) website, but your field crews do not have access to an internet connection or the Connected Community (TCC) website.

Prerequisites:

  • Licensed module; See the Subscription Plans page. For a license matrix by command, see the License page in the TBC Community. Also see View and manage licensed features.
  • Project library with field data published to a project
  • Connected Community (TCC) credentials if the project library is located in the cloud
  • Trimble Earthworks machines with project library support

To access the command:

To copy project library files to a USB flash drive:

  1. Select Library to USB from the Field Data tab.

    The Copy Project Library Files to USB Flash Drive dialog displays.

  2. Click Select Project..

    The Select Project in Project Library diadot dot dotlog displays.

  3. Select an option in the Type list:
    • Folder - Select this to connect to a project library created locally on your computer.
    • TCC - Select this to connect to a project library on the Connected Community (TCC) website. If you have not entered a service profile for TCC, you will be prompted for credentials.
  4. For TCC users, select the correct Organization for the credentials you have entered in Service profiles.
  5. In the Project group, select a project from the Existing list.
  6. Click OK.

    The job site components and designs currently published to the selected project display in the Job Site, and Designs tabs. The newest version of the files that are not currently on the USB flash drive are selected by default. The person who published the file is displayed in the User column. The date the file was published is displayed in the Date column.

  7. Check boxes to de-select files that you do not want to copy to the USB flash drive.

    Note: To copy or view older versions of the file, uncheck the Show only latest version box.

  8. In the USB flash drive location field, clickdot dot dot ... to navigate to the root folder of the USB flash drive to copy the selected project. A ProjectLibrary directory will be automatically added to your selected location.

    Files currently stored in the selected location display in the USB flash drive group. View the version number and the date to help determine the files to copy to the USB flash drive.

  9. Click the Summary tab to view the files selected for copying. The number of files to copy is displayed in this tab and on the Copy button.
  10. Click Copy.

    A dialog displays when the copy is successful.

  11. Click OK.

Files are organized into GeoData and Projects directories. The GeoData directory contains the latest coordinate system database and the geoid models used by the projects. The Projects directory contains the copied projects and their data.
