GPS time (GPST)

A measure of time used by the NAVSTAR GPS system. GPS time is based on UTC, but does not add periodic "leap seconds" to correct for changes in the earth's period of rotation. As of 1 January 2006, GPS time was 14 seconds ahead of UTC. The relationship between GPST and UTC is transmitted within the navigation message.
