Explode a Surface
Use the Explode Surface command to break apart a surface into its component (lines and CAD points). The lines are attached to the cad points by reference, so if you move one of the points, all the lines connected to it will move. If desired, you can also choose to explode the surface just where the slope changes beyond a specified vertical angle tolerance.
Prerequisites:
- License; See the Subscription Plans page. For a license matrix by command, see the License page in the TBC Community. Also see View and manage licensed features.
Note: As a macro command, this will not be available/visible on the ribbon until it detects a valid license level. Once you have the software or hardware license installed, select Support > Set Ribbon Tabs > Reset to Defaults to refresh the ribbon.
- Surface to explode
To access the command:
- Select Explode Surface in Surfaces > Create.
To explode a surface:
- Select the surface to explode in the Surface list (or pick it in a view).
- Select the layer on which to place the former surface members after exploding in the Explode layer list. If you choose << New Layer>>, an auto-incremented New Layer name is automatically created, but you can also type a layer name in the Layer Manager that opens.
- To explode the surface only at a specific deflection angle between triangles, check the Only at slope break box and enter a Break angle. A breakline is created where the surface is exploded based on the angle.
