Export Avoidance Zone files (.avc)

Use the Avoidance Zone exporter to export linework that defines the boundaries of a site area to be avoided during construction or other field operations. Avoidance zones are designed to be uploaded to earthmoving equipment, such as machines running Trimble Earthworks, to prevent them from entering restricted areas on a job site.

The machine's guidance system uses the .avc file to set up a "virtual fence". When the machine's location sensor approaches this boundary, it will alert the operator and/or automatically disengage certain functions to prevent the machine from entering the restricted area. By establishing avoidance files, you can ensure that equipment automatically avoids these zones, improving the quality and reliability of collected data.

Related file formats include:

  • .avz - This is a related file that can be paired with an .avc file. It contains photos associated with an avoidance zone.
  • .avoid.svl - This is an older or alternative avoidance zone file format for Trimble GCS machines and SiteVision.

Prerequisites:

  • Closed polygonal linework
