Download Files (via Direct Connection)

Download files to copy them from a connected field device to your office computer.

To download a file and import it into a project:

1. Open a project, or start a new project.
2. Connect the field device to the computer using a USB connection or a serial connection.
3. If the device asks if you want it to be connected, click Yes. TheDevice pane displays, listing the files on the field device.
4. Select one or more files to download from the device.
5. Do one of the following to import into the project:
   • Click the Import icon on the toolbar.
   • Click and drag the selected file(s) into the plan view of the project.

Note: In most expected situations, the software supports the direct downloading of Data Collector files from a Trimble M3 total station. To download a Data Collector file from a Trimble M3 total station, you must select Nikon for the device.
