Import ASCII Files (.asc, .csv, .pts, .txt)

ASCII files give you the flexibility to import data from a variety of sources, or even to create a file using a text editor. When you import an ASCII file, the Import Format Editor may display, prompting you to create a custom importer to accommodate the file. You can also access the editor any time by clicking the Import Format Editor icon on the Import command pane toolbar.  

Note: You can import Nikon NEH files (.asc) from Field Surveyor.
Tip: ASCII point files (.pts) can be imported as a surface.
