level misclosure
The total accumulated error in a level run that begins and ends on a benchmark. It is the difference between the published elevation of the ending benchmark and the elevation calculated from the elevation changes in all of the segments. If the calculated elevation is less than the published elevation, the level misclosure is a negative number. This value would need to be added to the calculated elevation to correct the misclosure. If the calculated elevation is greater than the published elevation, the level misclosure is a positive number. This value would need to be subtracted from the calculated elevation to correct the misclosure.
