dependent data

Associative or parametric data that is influenced by other data; it changes in response to changes made to the data upon which it is dependent. In this software, linestrings and surfaces are dependent. For example, if a surface's shape is based on the position of points that are members of the surface, when the positions of the points change, the surface changes in response, as do its related contours, surface profiles, etc.
