Create, Open, and Save an External Library
By default, the manager shows only a project library in the explorer pane until you open an external library. Either library can be modified and saved, and the external library can be saved with a new name, thereby making a copy of it. The software also comes with a read-only sample external library.
To open an external library:
- Do one of the following:
- Select File > Open External Library.
- Click the Open External Library icon on the toolbar.
The Open dialog displays.
- Browse to the .mxl file you need, and click Open. The External Library node appears in the explorer pane. The path to the external library appears in the right pane when you select External Library in the explorer pane.
To open the Sample Materials and Site Improvements library:
- Follow step 1 above.
- Navigate to:
C:\Program Files\Trimble\Trimble Business Center\Support\iv\Trial Materials and Site Improvement Library.mxl
- Click Open. The External Library node appears in the explorer pane.
To create a new external library:
- Do one of the following:
- Select File > New External Library.
- Click the New External Library icon on the toolbar.
The Save As dialog displays.
- Navigate to where you want to save your .mxl files, type a name in the File name box, and click Save. The library becomes the current External Library.
To save changes to the external library:
Do one of the following:
- Select File > Save External Library.
- Click the Save External Library icon on the toolbar.
The external library is saved.
To save the external library with a new name:
- Do one of the following:
- Select File > Save External Library As.
- Click the Save External Library As icon on the toolbar.
The Save As dialog displays.
- Navigate to where you want to save your .mxl files, type a name in the File name box, and click Save. The current external library is copied with the new name and the copy becomes the current External Library.
