surface (layer-based)
Any of the following takeoff surfaces created by assigning layers to the Original or Design categories.
- Original ground - This surface represents the original land, ground or improved surfaces as commonly measured by topographic survey operations and represented by layers containing existing contours, spot elevations, etc.
- Original ground with subgrades demolished - This surface represents the uppermost surface of in situ, earthen materials after existing, in-ground site improvements have been removed, but before any topsoil stripping occurs.
- Finished design with subgrades adjusted - This surface represents the uppermost surface of earthen materials after topsoil has been replaced, but prior to the proposed, in-ground site improvements being built.
- Finished design - This surface represents the finished land, ground, or improved surface as built, represented by layers containing proposed contours, roadways, parking areas, building pads, etc.
