Export LandXML Files (.xml)
Export points, lines, alignments, corridors, surfaces, and a few other miscellaneous data types using the LandXML file format. TBC supports the latest ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standard (ISO 15143-4, 2025). Using this open LandXML schema will improve interoperability within Trimble workflows and compatibility with 3rd-party tools. The new ISO format supports a slightly different set of data types than the previous TBC format (LandXML v1.2 from January 2015), so when exporting you can choose between ISO 15143-4 and the TBC 1.2 formats.
To export LandXML data
- Select Export in Home > Data Exchange. The Export dialog displays.
- Click the Corridor tab or the Construction tab and then select LandXML exporter in the File Format list.
- Click in the Selected entities box. Then, in a graphic view, pick the objects you want to include in the export, or click and choose a selection option in the list.
- If you want to clip a surface that you are exporting, select a boundary in the Surface clipping boundary list, or select <New> to create one.
- Type a path and file name for the exported file in the File Name box, or click the Browse button to browse for a location and specify a file name.
- In the Settings group, select export settings.
- Click .
Exporting Utility Lines/Pipes
When you export a utility network, a custom section called <PipeNetworks> is created in the LandXML file. Utility nodes (fittings, manholes, headwalls, etc.), are listed as <struct> entries. Utility lines (pipes and cables) are listed in a sub-section called <Pipes>. These entries include properties from the Material and Site Improvement Manager definitions for the exported utility site improvement types.
Note: For user-defined utility line shapes, only a bounding box representing the outer extents of the pipe's cross-sectional shape is exported and can be re-imported.
