Software setup and installation
To install and use the Trimble Access software you must have a license or a subscription for the General Survey app and each Trimble Access app you want to use. If you have a subscription, you must sign in using your Trimble ID before you can use the software.
To install or update Trimble Access software to your controller, use Trimble Installation Manager:
- If the controller is a Windows device, install or update Trimble Access software using Trimble Installation Manager for Windows. For more information, refer to the Trimble Installation Manager for Windows Help.

This version of Trimble Access can open jobs from version 2017.00 and later when running on a Windows device
There are several ways to convert older Trimble Access jobs to use with the latest version of Trimble Access.
Trimble Access template (.JOT) files and survey styles (.STY) files are very similar to job files and are converted in the same way as job files. Job conversion methods discussed below also apply to templates and survey styles.

The About screen lists the license information for all Trimble Access apps installed on the controller:
- A Full license is delivered to the device serial number and works perpetually (there is no expiry date).
- A Timed license is delivered based on the device serial number and will stop working on the date shown in the Expiry column.
- A Subscription is delivered based on the signed in Trimble ID and will stop working on the date shown in the Expiry column.
To use Trimble Access apps for which you have a subscription, you must sign in using your Trimble ID. Subscriptions are locked to the controller until you sign out. To use your Trimble Access subscriptions on a different controller, you must sign out on the current controller.

The Software warranty expiry is the date the Software Maintenance warranty expires. New improved versions of the software require a valid warranty. If the software warranty has expired, you can continue to operate the software and are entitled to only minor updates of the software.
The Software warranty expiry date is shown only if you have a Full software license.
If you have a subscription, you can install new, improved versions of the software as long as the subscription is valid.
For information on Hardware Extended Warranties or Software Maintenance, contact your Trimble distributor.

The Trimble Solution Improvement Program collects information about how you use Trimble programs and about some of the problems you may encounter. Trimble uses this information to improve the products and features you use most often, to help you to solve problems, and to better meet your needs.
Participation in the program is strictly voluntary. If you participate, the Trimble Access log file is automatically sent to the Trimble server each time you start the Trimble Access software. The file includes data on what the Trimble equipment is being used for, what software functions are popular in specific geographical regions, and how often problems occur in Trimble products that Trimble can correct.
At any time, you can choose to participate, or not to participate in the Solution Improvement Program. To do this, in Trimble Access tap and select About. Tap Legal and select Solution Improvement Program. Select or clear the I would like to participate in the Solution Improvement Program check box.
