To measure a compensated point
This measurement method is only available when you are using a Trimble R10 or R12 receiver and Tilt functions are enabled in the survey style. To be able to measure compensated points the GNSS receiver must have a properly calibrated eBubble and magnetometer. See Magnetometer calibration.
- Tap
and select Measure / Measure points, or in the map, with nothing selected, tap Measure.
- In the Method field, select Compensated point.
-
Enter the Point name and Code.
-
If the selected code has attributes, the Attrib softkey appears. Tap Attrib and fill out the attribute fields. See To enter attribute values when measuring a point. Tap Store.
- Enter a value in the Antenna height field and make sure that the setting in the Measured to field is set appropriately.
-
To configure the quality control and precision settings, tap Options.
The precisions shown reflect the amount of tilt of the antenna. If measuring points with large amounts of tilt, you may need to increase the precision tolerance setting.
-
Position the antenna and make sure it is stationary.
The eBubble shows the amount of tilt of the antenna.
An "Excess tilt" message appears in the status bar and the eBubble turns red if the tilt exceeds 15 degrees. If you can, level up the antenna so there is less tilt. If you are unable to decrease the tilt to less than 15 degrees, perform an offset measurement instead. See Compute point.
- Tap Measure. The compensated point icon appears in the status bar. The eBubble changes to help you hold the antenna stationary.
-
When the preset occupation time and precisions have been reached, tap Store.
To accept the measurement before the occupation time or precisions have been satisfied, tap Enter.
To speed up your workflow, select one or both of the following check boxes in the Options screen:
- To start measuring automatically when the receiver is within a specified tilt tolerance, select Auto‑measure in the Tilt group box. See GNSS point options.
- To automatically store the point when the occupation time and precisions have been reached, select Auto store point.
