Trimble Access permission settings (Android)
After installing the Trimble Access software on a controller running Android for the first time, the first time you start the Trimble Access software you are prompted to allow storage, location, and camera permission for Trimble Access.
-
When upgrading Trimble Access from a previous version, permissions granted to the previous version are used.
-
Permissions are not requested when using Trimble Access on a controller running Windows.
If multiple users use the same controller, the first user to sign in sets the permissions for every Trimble Access user who uses that controller. Subsequent changes to permissions will change the permissions for all users who use the controller.

Allowing storage permission enables Trimble Access to store and access files, projects, jobs, data files and system files on the controller. Files are stored in the <Device name>\Trimble Data folder.
The Trimble Access software prompts you to allow storage permission the first time you use Trimble Access.

Location information is used widely throughout the Trimble Access software, including to scan for and connect to other devices, show location information in the map, navigate during stakeout and store location information in the job.
Trimble Access also requires location permission to connect to a Trimble GNSS receiver. If a Trimble GNSS receiver is not connected, it allows Trimble Access to use location data from the internal GPS receiver in your controller.
The Trimble Access software prompts you to allow location permission the first time you use Trimble Access.
To enable location permission, when prompted tap Precise and then tap Allow.
On a landscape oriented screen you may need to swipe up on the touchscreen to see the Allow button.
If you deny location permission, you cannot use Trimble Access.

Allowing camera permission enables Trimble Access to use your controller's camera to capture data.
Trimble Access needs to use the controller camera for various functions including:
-
Capturing images and attach them to the job or to points.
-
Scanning barcodes and store them in your forms.
-
Using the augmented reality feature.
The Trimble Access software prompts you to allow camera permission the first time you fill out a field that requires an image or barcode, or the first time you use the augmented reality feature.
Until you allow camera permission, the software will prompt you to allow permission each time you fill out a field that requires an image or barcode.

If you have previously denied permission the software will prompt you to allow the required permission as you attempt to use features of the software. The simplest way to allow permission is to tap Allow in the pop-up permission required message.
If you have previously selected the Don't ask again option, then the software will explain why the permission is required and then show the permission settings in the operating system settings screen so that you can manually manage permissions.
To manually manage permissions:
-
In the Android Home or Apps screen, tap-hold the Trimble Access icon and then tap App Info.
-
Scroll to Permissions and select it.
-
Enable the Storage, Location, or Camera permissions as required.
You can also use these steps to deny permissions you have previously allowed.
