Receiving RTK data on demand

If you are using an internet connection to send RTK data from the base to the rover, then you can use the RTK on demand functionality to control the amount of data broadcast from the base receiver. You can request the base station to send data only when you require it. This will reduce the amount of data received by your cellular phone and may reduce costs from your cellular network service provider.

The RTK on demand function requires an internet connection at both the GNSS base station and the rover. The Trimble Access software must be at both the GNSS base station and the rover, or you must be connected to the Trimble VRS Now subscription service.

Once the RTK survey is running over an internet connection, you can access the RTK on demand controls by tapping the icon in the status bar.

When the survey is started, the Trimble Access software will default to Play mode. When in Play mode, RTK data will be streamed continuously.

If you tap the softkey, your survey will go into Pause mode and data will only be streamed when required. The Trimble Access software requests data from the base station when initialization is lost, or when you choose to measure a point, or when you start continuous topo, or when you use the stakeout functionality. As soon as the receiver has regained initialization, or the survey task is complete, then the Trimble Access software requests the base station to stop streaming data.

When in Pause mode, you cannot measure rapid points or fast fix points.

If you tap the softkey then your survey will go into Stop mode and no RTK data will be streamed. This can be used in situations where you do not wish to end your survey, but do not require the receiver to stay initialized until you are ready to start surveying again.
