To configure a rover radio data link
To obtain GNSS corrections at the rover using a radio data link, connect the controller running Trimble Access to a Trimble GNSS receiver that has an internal radio or EMPOWER RTK Radio module.
If required, you can use an external radio connected using cables. This is a less common workflow as carrying a separate radio adds more weight to the pole. For information on how to configure the connection to an external radio, see To configure a base radio data link.
To configure the connection to the receiver's internal radio or EMPOWER RTK Radio:
- Connect the controller to the receiver using Bluetooth.
- Tap and select Settings / Survey styles. Select the required survey style. Tap Edit.

Select Rover data link.
- Set the Type field to Radio.

In the Radio field, select the type of radio you are using. Select Receiver internal or EMPOWER RTK Radio.

To connect to and configure the internal settings of the radio you have selected, tap Connect.

If the radio is a dual-band radio, select the frequency Band to use.

If the radio is receive-only, you may be able to change the country of operation. If this setting is available, set it to the country or region you are operating in to change the available frequencies available.
In most cases the Country is pre-set and you cannot change this setting.

Select the radio Frequency to use.
To add a new receive frequency for the rover radio, tap Add Frq. Enter the new frequency and tap Add. The new frequency is sent to the radio and appears in the list of available frequencies. To use the new frequency, you must select the frequency from the list.

Select the Rover radio mode.

Tap Accept.
When you start the survey in Trimble Access, the radio signals icon appears in the status bar. If a red cross is drawn over the radio signals icon , there is a problem with the data link between the base and rover receivers.
When connected to the radio, you can tap the radio signals icon in the status bar to review the radio configuration and change the radio's internal settings, if required.
