To switch between instruments
In an integrated survey, the controller is connected to both devices at the same time. This makes switching between instruments very quick.
To switch from one instrument to another, do one of the following:
- Tap the status line in the status bar.
- Select Measure / Switch to <survey style type>.
- Tap Switch to and then select Switch to <survey style type>.
- Configure one of the controller function keys to Switch to TS/GNSS and then press that key. See Favorite screens and functions.
In an integrated survey, identify the instrument that is currently 'active' by looking at the icons shown in the status bar or the information shown in the status line of the status bar.
If you are using a GNSS receiver with a built‑in tilt sensor or an active target, the eBubble can be displayed, but for all conventional measurements Tilt auto‑measure is not supported and no tilt warnings will be issued.
If you are using IMU tilt compensation for the RTK part of the integrated survey, the tilt compensation is not applied to the conventional observations. Be sure to level the pole when using conventional total station measurements or when using Precise elevation when surveying a road.
There are some Trimble Access screens where you cannot switch instruments, for example Continuous topo.

If you switch instruments during an integrated survey when you are using Measure topo (conventional), the software automatically switches you to the Measure points (GNSS) screen (and vice versa).
The point name defaults to the next available name.
The code defaults to the last stored code.
Switch instruments before you change the point name and code. If you enter a point name or code before switching instruments, they will not be the default after the switch.

When you switch instruments, the active instrument is used for the next observation.

Only one Continuous topo survey is possible at one time.
You cannot switch the instrument used in Continuous topo while Continuous topo is running.
To change the instrument that is being used in Continuous topo, tap Esc to exit Continuous topo and then restart Continuous topo.
You can switch instruments if the Continuous topo screen is open but running in the background. If you switch instruments when the Continuous topo screen is running in the background, and you later make the Continuous topo screen the active screen, the software automatically switches to the instrument with which you started Continuous topo.

When you switch instruments, the graphical stakeout display changes.
If you switch instruments when the Stakeout graphics screen is running in the background, and you later make the Stakeout graphics screen the active screen, the software automatically switches to the instrument you last used.
If you switch instruments and a vertical offset to a surface is specified in the survey style, the vertical offset from the survey style that was last added to the job is used (unless you manually change the vertical offset in the Offset to DTM (Vertical) field of the map settings screen or by tapping Options in a stakeout screen).
