Staking from the map

Select items in the map and then tap Stakeout to stake them using position information from the connected GNSS receiver or conventional survey instrument.

1. To stake out items from a linked project data file, data in the file must be selectable in the map. Tap in the Map toolbar to open the Layer manager and select the Project data tab. If the file name does not have a selectable icon next to it, tap the file name once or twice to change the icon to selectable .

2. Tap the items in the map to select them. You must tap each point or line you want to select. For lines, tap near the end of the line to select the start of the line.

3. Tap Stakeout or press Enter on the controller keypad.

4. If more than one item is selected, they are added to the Stakeout list from where you can select them for stakeout.

   When you use an item in a linked file during stakeout, Trimble Access copies the properties of the item from the file and stores them with the point, line or polygon in the job.

Creating items for staking from a BIM model

When staking from a BIM model, you can use the following Cogo methods to calculate and create the items you need to take out:

• Creating the center point of a surface

  To compute the center point of a surface in a BIM model, select the surface in the map and then select Compute center point from the tap and hold menu. This is useful to find the center point of a bolt or cylinder so you can then stake it out.

• Creating the centerline of an object

  To compute the centerline of any tube-like item in a BIM model, such as a pipe or cylinder, select it in the map and then select Compute centerline from the tap and hold menu. The software computes a polyline that runs along the center of the item.
