To view the pipeline in the map
The Pipelines map shows a graphical representation of features of the pipeline.
If the surface layer is a map file then the TTM elevation, current elevation, and the cut/fill is shown in the map.

If the alignment, surface or inclusion/exclusion zones do not appear in the map:
- Tap
in the map toolbar to zoom to the map extents.
-
Tap
in the map toolbar to open the Layer manager and select the Map files tab.
The pipeline alignment file and the surface file have a single check mark
to indicate these layers are visible in the map.
- Tap the pipeline alignment file to make the layer selectable in the map, indicated by a check mark inside a square
.
- If the inclusion or exclusion zones are not shown in the map, tap the corridor limits file and the exclusion file once. A single check mark
indicates these files are visible in the map.
- Tap Accept.
- Tap the pipeline alignment file to make the layer selectable in the map, indicated by a check mark inside a square
- To display stationing values, tap
in the map toolbar and select Settings. Select the Station values check box and tap Accept.

If you are using a surface in the map, you can change the appearance of the surface to de‑clutter the map. To do this:
- Tap
in the map toolbar and select Settings.
- In the Surface group, clear the Display color gradient and the Display triangles check boxes.
-
Tap Accept.
The surface now appears on the map as an outline polygon.

To measure points along the as-built pipeline and have the software automatically perform checks for depth of cover and joint length, use the Measure pipeline points function:
- In the map, tap Measure.
- Tap and hold in the map and select Measure pipeline points.
- Tap
and select Measure / Measure pipeline points.
Because it uses the same form as the Measure point form, the title of the form is Measure point. However, if you open this form by tapping and selecting Measure / Measure points the software will measure points but does not perform any checks of the pipeline.
For more information, see To measure points along the as-built pipeline.
