Enabling Autolock, GeoLock, FineLock or Long Range FineLock

Trimble instruments provide Autolock and GeoLock technology for locking onto and tracking remote moving targets. GeoLock technology is GNSS assisted Autolock.

Use:

  • Autolock in servo and robotic surveys or when measuring to other fixed targets. Autolock can also be useful when GNSS positions are of poor quality or unavailable, such as when working underground or in a building.

  • GeoLock in a robotic survey to use your GNSS location to help you lock back onto your prism when lock has been lost. For more information on using GeoLock, see GeoLock.

TIP – A better GeoLock solution can be computed if the instrument is in TRK mode and locked to the target at the beginning of a survey while moving around for 10-20 seconds when more than 10m from the instrument.

Some instruments also provide FineLock and Long Range FineLock technology for better performance when measuring to static targets when there are two prisms close together. For more information on using Finelock, see FineLock or Long Range FineLock.
