Targets

You can configure the details of the target at any point during a conventional survey.

Target 1 and Target DR are already created for you. These targets can be edited but cannot be deleted.

You can create up to nine non‑DR targets.

TIP – Configure settings for searching for, locking onto, and handling obstructed targets in the Target controls screen.

When connected to a conventional instrument the number next to the target icon in the status bar indicates the target currently in use.

To change targets, tap the target icon in the status bar or press Ctrl + P and then tap the target to use or press the number corresponding to the target in the Targets screen.

When connected to a DR instrument, Target DR is used to define the DR target height and prism constant. To enable DR, select Target DR. To disable DR and return the instrument to its last state, select target 1–9.

  1. Tap the target icon in the status bar.
  2. Tap in the Target height field for the target you want to edit.
  3. Edit the Target height.
  4. To change the Target height measurement method, tap and select the appropriate option for your survey setup. See Target height.
  5. Tap Accept.

If required, you can edit target height records for observations already stored in the job. See To edit antenna and target height records.

  1. Tap the target icon in the status bar.
  2. In the Targets screen, tap +. The Target properties screen for the selected target appears.
  3. Enter the Target height.
  4. To change the Target height measurement method, tap and select the appropriate option for your survey setup. See Target height.
  5. Select the Prism type. If you select:

    • Trimble 360°, VX/S series 360° or R10 360°, select the required behavior in the Check target ID field and set the Target ID to match the identification number on the pole.

      NOTE – When Check target ID is set to Always, you must set the Target ID on the pole to on continuously. When measuring rounds observations, make sure that each target in the rounds list can have a different target ID. These settings are retained for each individual target until the rounds observations are completed.

    • Active Track 360 or VX/S series MultiTrack, select the Tracking mode and then set the Target ID to match the Target ID on the total station. Available modes depend on the selected target type.
    • T-360 LED or T-360SL LED, set the Target ID using the dial on the top of the target and then set the Target ID field in the software to match the identification number on the target. The T-360 LED or T-360SL LED targets are available only in Japan.
    • Custom, enter the Prism constant in millimeters (mm). See Prism constant. Select the required behavior in the Check target ID field and set the Target ID to match the identification number on the pole.

  6. If required, enter the Display name for the target. The number of the target is appended to the display name.

  7. Tap Accept.

    The software returns to the Targets screen, with the new target selected as the target in use.

  8. Tap Accept.

TIP – To edit target properties, you must change to that target. Then open the Targets screen and tap Edit.
