Important safety information for the DA2

Before you use the Trimble DA2 receiver, make sure that you have read and understood all important safety information below.

Electrocution Risk: Antennas are excellent conductors of electricity. Use extreme caution when operating near power lines and other sources of electric current or during stormy weather.

Handling

Handle the DA2 with care. It is made of plastic and has sensitive electronic components inside. DA2 can be damaged if dropped excessively, burned, crushed, or if it comes into prolonged contact with corrosive liquids. If you suspect the DA2 has been damaged, discontinue use of the product.

Repairing

Do not open the DA2 and do not attempt to repair the DA2 yourself. Disassembling the DA2 may damage it, result in loss of water/dust ingress resistance, or cause injury to you. If the DA2 is damaged or malfunctions, contact Trimble or your Trimble reseller. You can find more information about the warranty policy for the DA2 and replaceable accessories from the DA2 service and accessories page.

Powering

Power the DA2 with a USB compliant battery pack or other USB power source using the USB cable attached to the DA2. You can also power the DA2 with third-party cables that are compliant with USB 2.0 or later, and with applicable country regulations and international and regional safety standards, including the International Standard for Safety Information Technology Equipment (IEC 60950-1). When you power the DA2, make sure the USB connector of the USB battery pack is facing downwards with the USB cable from DA2 entering it from below to avoid rain water and moisture collecting on the cable from dripping into the battery pack. The USB power cable supplied with the DA2 antenna is designed to be replaced if damaged. Replace the USB cable if the connector is damaged, or the cable becomes frayed or damaged in any way.

Radio frequency exposure

The radiated output power of the internal Bluetooth wireless radio and this is far below the FCC radio frequency exposure limits. Nevertheless, the wireless radio(s) shall be used in such a manner that the DA2 is 20 cm or further from the human body. The internal wireless radio operates within guidelines found in radio frequency safety standards and recommendations, which reflect the consensus of the scientific community. Trimble therefore believes that the internal wireless radio is safe for use by consumers.

Radio frequency interference

Observe signs and notices that prohibit or restrict the use of electronic devices. The level of energy emitted by the DA2 is far less than the electromagnetic energy emitted by wireless devices such as mobile phones. However, the use of wireless radios may be restricted in some situations or environments. If you are unsure of restrictions, you are encouraged to ask for authorization before turning on the DA2. When use is prohibited, such as while traveling in aircraft, or when asked to do so by authorities, turn off the DA2.

Explosive and other atmospheric conditions

Charging or using the DA2 in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere, such as areas where the air contains high levels of flammable chemicals, vapors, or particles (such as grain, dust, or metal powders), may be hazardous. Exposing DA2 to environments having high concentrations of industrial chemicals, may damage or impair DA2 functionality. Obey all signs and instructions.

High-consequence activities

This device is not intended for use where the failure of the device could lead to death, personal injury, or severe environmental damage.
