Inspecting and sharing data
Interact with point cloud data you have added to the Reality Capture service using the tools in the Trimble Connect 3D Viewer.
To open the 3D Viewer, select the point clouds from the list in the Reality Capture extension and then click the 3D button at the top of the page.
Click the Settings button in the Trimble Connect 3D Viewer toolbar to open the Settings panel, expand the Extensions section and make sure Reality Capture is enabled so that you can view the point cloud data in the 3D Viewer.
Click the menu next to the point cloud file name and then select Show details to view the data properties.
If you are viewing an E57 file, click the triangle on the map to view the station information and then use the map tools to pan around.
To change the Styling settings for all reality capture data in the project, click the Settings button in the Reality Capture side bar. Configurable settings include:
-
Eye Dome Lighting: Eye Dome Lighting is a shading technique used to enhance depth perception and provide contouring to make objects appear more defined, such as the walls and benches in an open-pit mine.
-
Point Size: Drag the slider to increase or decrease the point size.
-
Rendering Mode: Select how points are rendered in the point cloud. Select from:
-
RGB: The reflective intensity of points is indicated using color.
-
Classification: Points are colored by data classification.
-
Clearance: Compare the selected portion of a model with the point cloud and visualize clearances by colorizing distances using customizable bands. This provides a quick and intuitive way to perform clearance checks, assess in/out tolerance workflows, and identify potential collisions at a glance.
-
Elevation: Compare point clouds against a specific elevation. You can customize the color and distance bands, facilitating the identification of high and low spots with ease. Set the Reference Elevation, an Offset if needed, the band Tolerance and the number of bands to use.
-
Use the tools in the Trimble Connect 3D Viewer toolbar to inspect, collaborate and share data, for example:
-
Use the Measurement options tools to measure items in the point cloud.
-
For example, select the Perpendicular measure tool
to measure the distance between two points, such as a lane width.
-
-
Use the Markup options to annotate the point cloud.
-
Select the Cloud markup tool
to draw on the point cloud or select the Text markup tool to add comments to the data.
-
-
Use the Clipping plane tools
to create cross-sectional slices of the data or to exclude parts of the point cloud. -
Use the Add View tool
to save the current view of the point cloud and share it with other team members.
