Base mode

If you are using a receiver that has an internal radio, you can set up an additional receiver to use as a base station instead of using an external real‑time correction service. Receivers that have an internal radio are the R10, R12, and R12i.

To connect to a GNSS receiver and use it in base mode:

  1. Connect the receiver to the device using a Bluetooth wireless connection.

  2. Swipe along the main menu bar and tap Base .

  3. Select the receiver Model and tap OK.

  4. Tap Start GNSS to start the base receiver.

  5. As soon as the base receiver starts, select the radio model and data stream type and tap OK.

  6. To set the position of the base station:

    • If you have set up the base station on an existing node, tap Snap node and then tap the node on the map.

    • To create a new node for the base station location, tap Control point and measure the point.

    • If you have set up the base station on a known location that does not exist in the Penmap project, tap and then tap the appropriate button for the coordinate type and enter the coordinates. To enter coordinates as:
      • Northing, Easting, Elevation, tap .
      • WGS84 coordinates (Latitude, Longitude, Height) in Degrees, Minutes, Seconds, tap .
      • WGS84 coordinates (Latitude, Longitude, Height) in decimal degrees, tap .

For best results, the node selected for the base station location should be as accurate as possible and based on a known location. A known location is an accurately surveyed point, typically a control point.

  7. If the receiver is a Trimble R12i, R12, or R10 receiver, use Trimble Mobile Manager to calibrate the tilt sensors in the receiver.

Well-calibrated tilt sensors are essential for accurate results. For more information, refer to the Trimble Mobile Manager Help.

  8. Tap Info to view information about the connected GNSS receiver.
