Stake out a line

The Stakeout line function allows you to stake a line which is created by offset values from a virtual reference line based on two selected points .

  1. From the Measurement mode bar, tap Stakeout .
  2. Tap Stakeout line .
  3. Select the two reference nodes that define the line: tap Ref. 1 and then tap the first node, then tap Ref. 2 and tap the second node. This creates the virtual reference line.
  4. To move the line, do one of the following:
    • To move the line by a specified distance, tap Offset and enter the offset value. Tap in the map to move the line to the right or the left. Tap the map again to move the line in the opposite direction.
    • To move the line so that it passes through an existing point, tap Through and then tap the node for the line to pass through.

To enter measurements for the exact point you want to stake out based on the entered Angle Offset values, touch‑hold the Offset or Through button. To enter the values, tap the Angle and Offset buttons.

  5. To move the start point of the moved line, tap Offset and enter the offset distance for the start point.
  6. Tap to begin stakeout.

The stakeout bar below the map shows:

    • The offset value for the line. A positive value is to the right of the reference line, a negative value is to the left of the reference line.
    • The offset distance from the beginning of the reference line. A positive value is after the start point of the reference line, a negative value is before the start point of the reference line.
  7. Use the GNSS button to take new measurements.

When taking a measurement, the tolerances are displayed for horizontal (distance from the reference line), chain (the position along the selected reference line) and vertical (height) error.
