What's new?

Recent changes to Trimble Sync Manager are outlined below.

For information on the latest improvements to Trimble Access support for projects and jobs that reside in the cloud, visit the Trimble Access Release Notes.

Whilst every effort is taken to maintain backwards compatibility across the system, Trimble recommends that for for cloud-based workflows, you use the latest version of Trimble Access, or at least use the same version of Trimble Access across all jobs in a cloud project.

Version 2.40, released October 2024

A primary theme for this Trimble Sync Manager update is to maintain existing workflows whilst supporting job-related cloud platform changes that are required to enable future improvements to the Connected Workflow system.

Resolved issues

  • Customers were periodically being signed out of Trimble Sync Manager and prompted to sign in again, even though the "Remember Me" option had been selected. This has been resolved; you should not need to sign in again unless you had signed out, or the app is offline for an extended period of time.

  • Periodic download was intermittently failing as a result of the sign-out issue. This has been resolved.

Maintenance

  • The job-related cloud platform changes include:

    • When creating a job, you can no longer select between field software versions 2021.20 and later OR 2021.x

      • Trimble Access versions 2021.1x and earlier will likely not have fully-functional cloud workflows.

      • Note the above recommendation that the latest version of Trimble Access is used for cloud workflows.

    • The Job list in the Project Overview form is read from the new field data cloud platform.

    • Changing a job's status and adding a comment now writes to the new field data cloud platform. These updates will be visible in earlier versions of Trimble Access.

    • Setting a job to QA complete now writes to the new field data cloud platform. These updates will be visible in earlier versions of Trimble Access.

    • Deleting a job now acts on the new field data cloud platform. Versions of Trimble Access 2023.10 and earlier will no longer be notified that the job has been deleted and it will be possible for the Surveyor to continue working with what they perceive as the cloud job.

    • The Job review - Rework workflow is no longer available.

      • The options to add new or update existing linked files to a job using the Job review - Rework workflow are no longer available.

      • All existing Connect project files can be updated using any application that can write a file with the same name to the same Connect file explorer location, and Trimble Access will prompt the Surveyor to download if the updated file is being used in the active job.

      • New Connect project files can be added using any application that can write a file into the Connect file explorer.

      • The option to change a job assignee using the Job review - Rework workflow is no longer available. This can be achieved using the Connect Field Data extension.

    • Reports that were previously generated by Trimble Sync Manager are not visible in the Job Review form. New reports will be regenerated automatically on download or can be regenerated manually.

    • Downloads from Trimble Sync Manager are read from the new field data cloud platform.
