Upcoming changes

• The method for communicating field data packages through the cloud is being transitioned from the Connect ToDo to a newly created Job Service. To complete this transition, the Job files option when creating a job is being removed. The Creating a job section of the help has been updated to reflect this upcoming change.

Enhancements

• The option to download Project Reference Files in the Project properties screen, Download tab has been renamed Design files. This option results in any design files referenced to the job in Trimble Access Layer Manager being downloaded; renaming this option more accurately describes the action.

• When creating a job and selecting the job folder location option, Trimble Sync Manager would write a backslash \ prefix to the path location attribute to indicate the location was relative to the project directory. Trimble Access versions do not write this prefix. To gain ongoing data consistency Trimble Sync Manager no longer writes the \ prefix.

Maintenance

• The method for communicating field data packages through the cloud is being transitioned from the Connect ToDo to a newly created Job Service. In preparation for this change:

  • Trimble Sync Manager now READS field data from the Job Service. This includes field data information displayed in the Project Overview job list, when reviewing jobs , and when editing job properties.

  • Trimble Sync Manager now downloads any field-generated files via the Job Service. This includes the download of field-generated files initiated when you download all jobs, review jobs, and configure Project download settings.

Resolved issues

• The Trimble Sync Manager report download did not exactly match the published Trimble Access stylesheets. The stylesheets listed and their names now match the published list.

• Trimble Sync Manager has been updated to use a more recent version of Microsoft.Web.Webview2.

Maintenance

• When creating or updating a Trimble Access job, Trimble Sync Manager now triggers a sync between backend systems in order to improve performance and data currency across each of the applications that display Trimble Access field data—namely, Trimble Access, Trimble Business Center Connected Workspace, Trimble Sync Manager, and the Survey Tools Connect web extension.

• When displaying a world map in Project Details and Coordinate System Definition, Trimble Sync Manager now calls the Trimble Maps Service rather than the Map Tiles Broker Service. This is in preparation for the Map Tile Broker being deprecated which would stop the named map views from displaying.

Enhancements

• Trimble Sync Manager now enables automated standard report generation during a periodic download. The reports are downloaded—to the "JobName Files/" Folder directory—with the field data so that project stakeholders can have the information required in a timely manner with little administrative overhead.

Resolved issues

• The Create job file selector was not allowing 12da files to be selected; it now supports all files supported by the Trimble Access software.

• An issue with Trimble Sync Manager not reading updates coordinate systems has been resolved; any geodata files that have changed are now always updated.

• Trimble Sync Manager was not uploading Trimble Access template files correctly, causing the project download to Trimble Access to fail. This has now been resolved.

• An issue preventing a pipeline from being created in a Trimble Connect project in the Australia region has been fixed.

• Trimble Sync Manager has been updated to use the latest Connect SDK, resolving various issues with signing in, creating tasks, and uploading files.

Resolved issues

• The initial step of a scheduled download tests if it is possible to write to the specified directory. This triggered certain ransomware detection software testing and so has been updated to not cause a false flag.

• A new version jxl would be placed in the file system at every scheduled download point even if the job had not been updated. New versions of field data files are now downloaded only if the cloud has been updated since the previous download.

• Scheduled Download did not act on jobs with status In Progress. This has been resolved and jobs with the selected status will be downloaded.

• Job review failed when the job file size was greater than 10Mb. This has now been resolved.

• When you set the coordinate system to use Ground Coordinates the system would identify the Coordinate System as custom. This could cause issues when importing the field data into other third-party systems. Trimble Sync Manager now keeps the library CRS title when that is what was originally selected.

• When set to Ground Coordinates, the default units for Easting and Northing values now match the default units set for the job. Previously Trimble Sync Manager always set the default units for Easting and Northing to meters even when the job Units were set to a different unit and the computed scale factor was always set to 1.

• Sign-in to Trimble Sync Manager could occasionally result in a browser window showing a "No Scopes" error. This has been resolved and should no longer occur.

Enhancements

• Reference files: When attributing a file to push to Trimble Access, double clicking had the effect of adding then removing the attribution. Now a double click is treated the same as a single click in this interface.

• Download performance: Previously it could take tens of minutes to download a job and associated reports. Now this is completing much faster.

• Auto Update Interface: Removed unnecessary buttons and improved the layout of the software update dialogue

Resolved issues

• Report download: When downloading a job, reports that had been generated for that job would not get downloaded. This is now resolved.

New features

Create Job Coordinate System definition

When creating a new job, Trimble Sync Manager will default the coordinate system definition to the Trimble Connect project coordinate reference system (CRS) setting. If the Connect project does not have a CRS setting defined, create job will default to Scale factor only for the first job in the project and then default to the Last used setting for subsequent jobs.

File support

DWG files are now able to be attributed as a project reference file in the Reference files screen and linked in the Create job screen.

Enhancements

• Create Job: The Create job screen has been updated to more closely match Trimble Access. System files are no longer shown together in a separate box. The feature library and geoid file used in that job are now selected and displayed in a specific section.

• New versions: Previously a prompt to auto update the software would show when launching Trimble Sync Manager. This was both intrusive and did not convey a new version was available if the prompt was skipped. New version availability is now shown in the application and can be acted upon at a time which suits the user.

• End User License Agreement Acceptance: Trimble Sync Manager now requires the EULA to be scrolled to the end before it can be accepted.

Resolved issues

• Error creating a job: Trimble Sync Manager was showing "Failed to open the job for editing". Older versions of Trimble Sync Manager would upload project reference files to the Connect cloud project /Configuration directory. Newer versions upload project reference files to the Connect cloud project folder structure specified by the user. This error shows in cases where a file with the same name was placed in both /Configuration and Project root. To resolve, the desired file should be moved to the project root (or other folder) and deleted from /Configuration.

• Project refresh: In certain situations Trimble Sync Manager would display data from the previously open project. When changing projects Trimble Sync Manager now refreshes all screens before displaying the correct data for the project.

• Automated Download: The local PC file explorer was showing a new download time for previously downloaded JXL files even though there was no change. Unchanged files will no longer show an updated download time.

• Custom geoids: Coordinate system definitions and geoids that are not part of the Trimble Geodetic Library were not being delivered to the cloud through the Trimble Business Center Send to Sync workflow. This has now been resolved.

The Trimble Sync Manager software should automatically update to this version from previous versions.

Resolved issues

• Application errors: We have fixed several issues that caused occasional application errors when using or closing the software. In particular:

  • Trimble Sync Manager would occasionally hang after creating a new project. The trigger causing this issue has been removed from the application and a more permanent resolution is being worked on at the server side.

  • Trimble Sync Manager would occasionally report job export failure when attempting to review a job. This has been resolved in the Trimble Connect platform with no changes to Trimble Sync Manager.

The Trimble Sync Manager software should automatically update to this version from previous versions.

New features

Map background files now grouped with world files

Map background files are now paired with the corresponding world file in the project files list of the Trimble Sync Manager Create a job form. If there are multiple image file types with the same name as a single world file, they will all show the pairing. The image and worldfile pairs that this applies to are detailed in the Trimble Access help. In addition, Trimble Access 2022.00 also supports a DXF/WLD pair created when using a web feature service (WFS).

Enhancements

• Deleting files: The ability to delete files from the Connect cloud using the Trimble Sync Manager Reference files form has been reinstated. This can be done by right clicking on each file and selecting Delete.

• Product terms: TSM now refers to the Trimble General Product Terms for cloud and software products.

• Privacy: TSM now refers to the Trimble Privacy Center.

• Change of terminology: Words matter. We’re making word choices that support inclusion in our code, products and conversations. Occasionally in our work we encounter words and technical jargon that can be considered offensive and non-inclusive due to their origins or associations. In Pipelines, we now use the term primary tally file set instead of master tally file set.

• Templates: Templates are no longer shown as selectable map layers in the Trimble Sync Manager Create a job form. Previously if users selected the <template>.jxl file in the Create a job form as a map layer they would subsequently receive errors on download to Trimble Access.

• Cancel sign in: A Cancel button has now been added to the Trimble Sync Manager Sign in page to allow you to restart the process. Previously it was possible to appear stuck during the sign in process if no action was taken on the Trimble Identity Sign In page.

• New config file on upgrade: Trimble Sync Manager now generates a new user.config file on the local file system during upgrade. The old versions were not used and are now deleted on upgrade.

Resolved issues

• Background map: When specifying a background map layer during job creation in Trimble Sync Manager, the .jxl <ActiveMapFiles> section would contain both the image and worldmap files. The <ActiveMapFiles> section now only refers to the image file.

• Reported Precision values: Reporting Precision was output to six decimal places regardless of what the stylesheet stipulated. Report generation through Trimble Sync Manager now outputs values according to the stylesheet specification.

• Project boundary: Changing the map view in Trimble Sync Manager to seed the coordinate system selection map filter would also update the Connect project boundary. This was impacting Construction customers using the WorksManager application. As an interim fix, Trimble Sync Manager will display the Connect project boundary extents when opening a project. The map view can be changed within Trimble Sync Manager to aid coordinate system selection but will not update the Connect project boundary.

• Up to date project information error: Trimble Sync Manager now attempts to silently resolve an issue which caused some customers to see the error message "Up to date project information was not able to be fetched". This error was caused when handling files in the cloud outside of Trimble Access or Trimble Sync Manager. Trimble recommends that customers do not directly interact with the Configuration folder created by Trimble Sync Manager or Trimble Access in a Connect cloud project

• Background processes: Using the Windows exit button to close Trimble Sync Manager resulted in the Trimble Sync Manager icon being left in the System Tray. Over time these icons would build up. Trimble Sync Manager now cleanly exits and does not leave hanging system processes.

The Trimble Sync Manager software should automatically update to this version from previous versions.

New features

Reference files

Trimble Sync ManagerProject properties - reference now displays a modified Trimble Connect file explorer view. This matches updates to Trimble Access where files can now be selected for download in a matching folder structure independently from Trimble Sync Manager.

The new view makes it easier to manage applying a project reference file attribute which guides the expected behavior across different Trimble Access versions.

Files uploaded to the /Configuration directory using a previous version of Trimble Sync Manager are displayed according to their use. Files published to be linked to jobs are displayed in the project root directory. This is where they will download to in all versions of Trimble Access. Files that will be downloaded to the Trimble Data/System Files/ directory are displayed in a separate /System files area. Pipeline Tally files are for a special purpose and so are not displayed.

Previously Trimble Sync Manager only displayed files uploaded by Trimble Sync Manager or selected using the Add from Trimble Connect option. All project files were downloaded to Trimble Access project root directory.

Create a job

Create a Job now displays the same modified Trimble Connect file explorer view as Project properties - reference. Files supported by Trimble Access will show a link icon and can be selected by clicking to change the link icon green which adds the file to the layer manager of the job.

A Field software version selector has been added. When field software version 2021.1x is selected, linking a file so it appears in the job layer manager will also apply the project reference attribute to the linked file as this version of Trimble Access cannot otherwise download the file.

The latest version of Trimble Access will ensure that any files required by a job are downloaded when needed.

Previously the job folder location selector displayed a virtual folder which did not exist in the cloud. This now shows both the actual Trimble Connect project folder structure and any virtual folders created in earlier versions of Trimble Access or Trimble Sync Manager.

Receive data from Trimble Business Center Send to Sync

To support the changes to showing the modified Trimble Connect file explorer view, when receiving data from Trimble Business Center the primary path is now to select a project then specify the project directory to add data files to.

The option to continue to create a job after adding the files is set automatically if points were sent embedded in the job. Otherwise this is selectable. The option to Add data to job directly from Trimble Business Center will only appear if no files are sent from TBC. Previously the option to Add to project or Add to job were presented equally. Received data files were uploaded to a /configuration folder in the cloud in a way which resulted in them being downloaded to the Trimble Access project root directory.

Download settings

Download settings now include a file selection option to limit the amount of data being brought back into the office. The default selection is to only Download jobs and related field data with status Field Work Complete.

The file selection option is applied during periodic download and when applying download in job review.

Import to TBC does not apply the download settings.

Previously download would result in all files linked to the job being downloaded which created unwanted file duplication for customers.

Enhancements

• Restricted ToDo visibility: When creating a project the default setting for Restricted ToDo visibility is now Off. This aligns with the default setting in Trimble Connect Web and Trimble Access, and prevents the situation where someone with a project User role could inadvertently create a Trimble Access job with a duplicate name.

  Unless there is a specific desire to leave this set on, it is advised to change this setting to off in existing projects.

• Suppress project invitation email: In response to customer feedback, now when you invite team members to a project using Trimble Sync Manager, the invited team members will no longer receive an invitation email from Trimble Connect. The project is shown in the team member's cloud project list.

• Pipelines merge tally: A number of fixes have been made to the pipelines merge tally.

  • Joint check and position data is now merged as new data. Previously unless there were also updates to some joint attributes this change would not be merged

  • Merge tally deselects joint updates where the timestamp is older than in the current primary tally. Previously joint had to be manually deselected which could result in a tally update being overwritten by subsequent field tally merges

    Merge tally relies on the local system time as recorded in each tally file set. It is important that all field crew set their controllers to the same time zone and time.

  • Pipelines Add New Tally handles Joints with blank Unique IDs better. Previously new joints in the tally manifest or existing joints in the primary tally with blank Unique Id fields could be lost during this process.

The Trimble Sync Manager software should automatically update to this version from previous versions.

Software updates required before 31 August 2021

Trimble Sync Manager version 1.4.63 includes updates to service calls which are impacted by the latest Trimble Identity updates.

To be able to use the Map Tiles and Pipelines services in Trimble Sync Manager you must update your software to the latest version before August 31, 2021. Update to Trimble Access version 2021.10 or later is also required before August 31, 2021.

Enhancements

• 4k monitor support: The upgrade dialogue now displays correctly on a high resolution monitor.

• Joint mapping options: Joint mapping options were limited to attributes of the attribute linked feature code. and displayed in file order. This is now resolved. All attributes are available and display in alphabetical order.

• Attribute linking: Attributes were previously displayed in file order. They now display in alphabetical order.

Resolved issues

• Microsoft .NET Framework: Corruption was occasionally occurring in personalized settings which prevented Trimble Sync Manager from opening. Trimble Sync Manager will now remove the corrupted settings and open. Any corrupted settings that have been removed will need to be re-entered.

• Invalid project name: If a space was left at the end of a project name then Trimble Sync Manager would fail to create the cloud project. Trimble Sync Manager now removes any spaces at the end of the project name before creating the project in the cloud.

• Horizontal scroll bar: A horizontal scroll bar has been added to the Project and Project Overview forms.

• Remember me: Trimble Sync Manager would request sign in whenever the device had been offline. This is now resolved and an existing sign in will be respected for nine days if Remember me was selected at sign in.

• Job review - datum grid: Job review failed to display reduced points and generate reports when a datum grid is used. This has been resolved.

• Download failure: Trimble Sync Manager would fail silently if automated download was set to a read‑only directory. An error is now displayed.

• Broken help link: The online help link in the Merge tally updates screen was broken. This is resolved.

• Pipeline reports: Pipeline reports would not download after they had been regenerated. This is now resolved

Software updates required before 31 August 2021

Trimble Sync Manager version 1.4.62 includes the latest Trimble Identity update, which provides multiple security and user experience features.

To continue to sign in to Trimble Sync Manager with your Trimble Identity and be able to send data to and from Trimble Sync Manager, you must update your software to the latest version before August 31, 2021. Update to Trimble Access version 2021.10 is also required before August 31, 2021.

The Trimble Identity update includes single sign-on (where signing in to one application signs you in to all of your Trimble applications), social sign-in with your existing Google or Apple account, and multi-factor authentication using SMS or Google Authenticator. You can choose to enable multi-factor authentication for your account from the Trimble Identity web page.

• Job description in job list: The job list now includes a column showing the job description.

Resolved issues

• Linking FXL files: You can now add an FXL file to the project and then link the file to a new job without first having to close and reopen the project.
• Job name and reference: The maximum number of characters for the job name and the job reference is now consistent with Trimble Access.
• Job units: Trimble Sync Manager now remembers the last used job units when creating a new job.
• Project height: You can now enter a negative project height. Previously only positive values were accepted.
• Reports output in UTF-8: We recently reintroduced an issue when generating reports from stylesheets with output encoding set to UTF-8 where reports were output in UTF-8 BOM. Reports are now correctly output in UTF-8 format.

New features

Schedule automated download of projects from the cloud

Use the new Download tab in the Project properties screen to schedule automated download of project files from the cloud to a folder on your computer or network. Each project is downloaded to its own folder in the selected download folder.

You can schedule periodic downloads at regular intervals during the day, or daily downloads. Select whether to download jobs and related files, project reference files, and/or system files. Alternatively you can just manually download files as required.

Enhancements

• Restrict job visibility from within Trimble Sync Manager: Project administrators can now restrict the visibility of jobs from within Trimble Sync Manager. To prevent field users from seeing jobs to which they are not assigned, assign the team member the user role and then select the Restrict job visibility check box. Jobs remain visible to project administrators, the person who created the job, and users who are assigned to the job.

  Previously the visibility of jobs could only be restricted from the User Permissions tab in the Trimble Connect Web project menu.

• TrimBIM file support: TrimBIM (*.trb) files can now be attached to a project or job and used in Trimble Access in the same way as an IFC file. TrimBIM is a BIM model file format invented and implemented by Trimble, and is a smaller, more efficient alternative to IFC files.
• TXL file support: Trimble Tunnel TXL files can now be attached to a project or job and used in Trimble AccessTunnels.

The Trimble Sync Manager software should automatically update to this version from previous versions.

Enhancements

• Projects uploaded from controllers: Projects uploaded from controllers running Trimble Access version 2020.20 and later appear in Trimble Sync Manager and can be managed in the same way as projects created in Trimble Sync Manager.
• Adding reference files: We have made the following improvements to the Reference tab of the Project properties screen:
  • You can now add all the files in a folder located on a network drive or your local drive. To this, click and then click and browse to the folder.
  • When adding files already uploaded to Trimble Connect, you can now search for part or all of the file name or file extension.
• Import linked files to TBC: When sending job data to Trimble Business Center, you can now use the Select files to send to TBC dialog to send linked files to Trimble Business Center with the JobXML file. By default, the Select files to send to TBC dialog shows all files linked to the job, except PDF files. To change which files will be sent, select or clear the check box next to the file name. If you do not want to send any linked files, click Skip files. See To export data to your office software.
• Improved coordinate system information: When viewing a job, Trimble Sync Manager now shows the Global reference datum and Global reference epoch for the selected coordinate system and zone. These changes support the improvements to the time-dependent coordinate transformation feature in Trimble Access and Trimble Business Center, which is used to transform Trimble RTX® positions between ITRF 2014 at the epoch of measurement and the global reference frame.
• Joint checked status shown in Pipeline dashboard: For Pipeline projects, the Joint section of the Pipeline dashboard now includes a Checked column, which indicates if the joint has been checked. The checked value comes from the checked status in the .idx file. See Pipeline tally master set.

Resolved issues

• Start up screen shows Projects list: When you start Trimble Sync Manager, if you are signed in the first screen shown is now the Projects list. Previously if you were viewing a project when you exited and Trimble Business Center was running, Trimble Sync Manager would shown the New job screen on start up.
• Adding files to a project from Trimble Business Center: When you use the Send to Sync function in Trimble Business Center and add the files to a project in Trimble Sync Manager, the list of reference files in the New job screen updates immediately.
• Attribute linking when FXL changed: Changing the selected feature library (FXL) file in a pipeline tally definition now clears the attribute linking fields. Previously it was not obvious that these fields has been reset and needed reselecting.
• Reference information not copied to jobs: We have fixed an issue where information in the Customer reference field in the Project properties screen was not always copied to the Reference number field in the New job screen.
• Reports output in UTF-8: When generating reports from stylesheets with output encoding set to UTF-8, the reports are now correctly output in UTF-8 format. Previously reports were output in UTF-8 BOM.
• Deleting local projects: You can now delete projects that you have created locally on your computer but you have not uploaded to the cloud, for example if there was a network issue present during project creation.

Enhancements

Trimble Sync Manager version 1.4.59 includes the following enhancements for Pipeline projects:

• Pipelines support on Android controllers: The Trimble Access Pipelines app can now be used on supported Android controllers.

  A pipeline created in version 1.4.59 of Trimble Sync Manager will work on a Windows or Android controller. However, to use a pipeline created with an earlier version of Trimble Sync Manager on an Android controller, you must go to the Pipeline properties in Trimble Sync Manager and re-save the pipeline. This creates the required .jot file that is downloaded and used on Android controllers.

• Adding new tally files to the pipeline: You can add additional tally files to the pipeline from the Project overview screen, and then merge the new file to the project to create an updated master tally file set for the project. This is useful when additional pipe manifests are provided during the project, for example for prefabricated bends or additional pipe due to a re-route of the pipeline. See To add extra pipe manifests to the master tally set.
• Create new joint from unknown joint ID: During merge tally, if an unknown joint ID is found, you can now choose to add a new joint for the unknown joint ID. See To merge tally and joint map updates.
• Pipelines options locked after download: Pipelines options are now locked once they have been downloaded to a controller for the first time. This is to prevent possible issues caused by modifying settings once data has been collected.
• Last modified details for pipeline tally: The Pipeline Tally Data screen now includes a Last modified column to show the date and time of the last modification to the tally file.

Resolved issues

• Project reference files not appearing in new job: We have fixed an issue when adding reference files to a project that had previously been saved to the project, where the reference files did not always appear in the New job screen.

New features

Project reference files

Files that have been uploaded to the cloud project using a different interface to Trimble Sync Manager or Trimble Access can now be selected as reference files.

Proxy server support

If accessing the internet through a proxy server it is now possible to specify the proxy server address and authentication.

Enhancements

• Add Trimble Business Center files to project: Project reference files can now be defined during the Trimble Business CenterSend to Sync process. This removes the requirement to create a new job as part of the Send to Sync process.
• Unique file names: When copying a job, it is no longer possible to specify the same name as an existing job in the project.
• Project overview: A horizontal scroll bar will now show in the project overview screen if the window size is too narrow to display all information.

• Downloading FXL files: When downloading a job, if the job is linked to a feature code library the FXL file is now downloaded to the project folder. Previously the FXL file was downloaded to the same folder as the job, which could result in the same file being downloaded to multiple job folders.

Resolved issues

• Template links to FXL: When saving a job template, links to any files are retained. Previously, the link to a feature code library was lost when saving a template.
• Older jobs not showing all points in Job review: When displaying a job from an older version of Trimble Access in the job review form, the job points may appear, depending on the coordinate reference system in use. This is the result of an incompatibility in the Trimble Access job conversion and will not be fixed. Jobs created in the latest version of Trimble Access should not exhibit this behavior.
• Missing Geoid message: A Missing Geoid error would show in the job review screen for some coordinate reference systems. A fix has been made to an external service to resolve this issue.
• Additional Pipeline fields: When creating a new pipeline tally, removing any additional weld and bend fields before saving retained the additional fields. The fields were locked and could not be removed. We have resolved the issue so that deleted fields are no longer shown.
• Folder locations: In the job overview screen it was possible that the same folder location would show twice, once with the \ prepending the name and once without. The software now prepends \ to all folder location names.
• Renaming jobs: Changing the job name from the default date format was sometimes not accepted. This is now resolved and the name typed into the job name field will be applied.
• Subfolder selection: When creating a job it was sometimes not possible to select an existing subfolder. This has been resolved.
• Project sorting: The project sort by options did not return the expected outcome. This has been corrected and now returns the same result as seen when sorting projects in Trimble Connect Web.
• Reports: Some reports generated using Trimble Sync Manager could have a different format to a report generated using the same stylesheet in Trimble Access. This has been resolved.
• Back arrow: The back arrow sometimes stayed grayed out. This has been improved.

Enhancements

Job folders now supported

When creating jobs you can now store the jobs in folders inside the project folder. Folders are downloaded to Trimble Access with the project.

Folders are downloaded to Trimble Access with the project. To avoid data synchronization issues, Trimble Access users should not move jobs downloaded from Trimble Connect to a different folder.

Appending data to jobs from Trimble Business Center

You can now append data to a job you have previously created using Send to Sync in Trimble Business Center. To do this, make sure the job is displayed in the Create job or Edit job screen in Trimble Sync Manager, and then select the additional entities in Trimble Business Center and click Send.

To make invalid joint mappings more obvious, when you view the Pipeline dashboard for a Pipelines project, the Show only invalid mappings check box is now automatically selected if invalid joint mappings are present, and the header bar shows the count of valid mappings in black and invalid mappings in red.

Photo attributes as additional weld or bend fields for Pipelines

Any attributes, including photo attributes, can now be selected as additional weld or bend fields in the Properties screen for the pipeline.

Resolved issues

• Jobs created from TBC contain previously selected points: We have fixed an issue when creating a job by selecting data in Trimble Business Center and sending it to Trimble Sync Manager, where the new job contained the selected data as well as data previously selected and used to create a different job.
• Background files now downloaded to same folder as the world file: Georeferenced image files such as .jpg, .tif, .bmp files that are used as map backgrounds are now downloaded to the same folder as the associated world file (for example, .wld, .jpw, .tifw, .bpw). If the background file is added to the project as a project reference file they are downloaded to the project directory. If the background file is linked as a job reference file they are downloaded to the same folder as the job file.

Resolved issues

• System performance: We have improved system performance, particularly when loading a large number of projects. Some customers with a large number of projects experienced slowness to load the full project listing and other functions on the page became unavailable during this period.
• Downloading jobs and linked files: We have resolved a recent issue where after downloading a job it was no longer possible to access some job linked files using the hyperlinks or Download job option in the job review page. Now any files linked to the job and any project reference files are downloaded with the job.
• Geoid file references: When browsing to a geoid file to specify a coordinate system definition vertical adjustment, the file name is now the only item written to this section which matches the published .jxl schema. Previously, the full local path name to the geoid file was written in the .jxl file <GeoidName> section, which could mean that the geoid file reference was not recognized when opening the job in Trimble Access.

New features

Downloading all jobs in the project

The Project Overview screen now provides an option to download all the jobs in the project to a selected folder on your computer. To do this, click above the list of jobs and select Download all jobs.

Trimble Sync Manager now warns if the project was not correctly uploaded to the cloud

When creating a new project, if there is an issue uploading the project to the cloud, for example when experiencing network connection issues, Trimble Sync Manager now provides the following warning message: "There was an unexpected problem uploading your Project to Connect. Please consult Sync Manager FAQs to address this issue." This issue can result in duplicate projects, where one project is in the cloud and a different version of the project is stored locally.

To resolve the issue, close Trimble Sync Manager and in Windows Explorer delete the following folder from your computer: C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local\Trimble\Trimble Sync Manager\. Then restart Trimble Sync Manager and download the project from the cloud.

Resolved issues

• Large pipeline tally sets: Trimble Sync Manager now handles large pipeline tally data sets. Testing has been conducted in the order of 20,000 joints and associated joint maps.
• GNSS data files: GNSS data that is stored in the receiver then imported to the controller before uploading to the cloud now appears as a GNSS file (.t01, .t02, or .t04) and is treated as part of the job. Previously it would appear as "Other files" and was not treated as job data.
• Unsupported license types no longer shown: The License drop-down list in the Create a new project dialog no longer includes Trimble Connect licenses that do not support Trimble Sync Manager.
• Project Overview screen: The Jobs list now has a scroll bar.
• Geoid file: Trimble Sync Manager now handles imperfect geoid file names. This change has been made in response to specific issues reported handling the Swiss geoid file chgeo04.ggf.

New features

Support for Trimble Access Pipelines projects

Trimble Sync Manager now fully supports Trimble Access Pipelines projects.

You can now configure most Pipelines settings in the office using Trimble Sync Manager. Use the Pipelines tab in Trimble Sync Manager to add the tally CSV file and configure the same options as those in the Pipeline options screen in Trimble Access, with the exception of the Assign computed values as attributes and the Joint map ID defaults settings (these must still be set on the controller). You can also allows the Joint mapping options to be set at the project level, ensuring the same joint mapping fields are used across all controllers.

When a new Pipelines project is synchronized to the controller a job template is created from the Pipelines settings in Trimble Sync Manager, allowing jobs to be quickly and easily created on the controller. When the project or job is downloaded to the controller, tally files are automatically moved to the Trimble Data\Common\Tally folder.

When data is uploaded to the cloud from the controller, you can use the Merge tally function in Trimble Sync Manager to merge the updated tally and joint map data from multiple field crews into a master set of files in the office at the end of each day. You can then send out the updated master files to each field crew, ready for the next day's work.

Resolved issues

• Project list sorting: The previously selected sort by method for the project list is now remembered when you restart Trimble Sync Manager.

• Job search filter: The last used job search filter is now remembered and remains visible when returning to the Jobs list. To return to an unfiltered view, delete the text in the search field.

Enhancements

• GENIO road file support: GENIO road file formats (.crd, .inp, and .mos) can now be attached to projects and jobs using Trimble Sync Manager.

• 12da file support: .12da files exported from 12d Model software can now be attached to projects in Trimble Sync Manager. These files cannot be attached to jobs as they are not supported in Trimble Access and must first be converted to a GENIO .mos file using the Trimble AccessRoads software.

• WMS configuration file support: Web map service configuration (.wms) files created in Trimble Access can now be attached to projects using Trimble Sync Manager.

Resolved issues

• Previous version of report downloaded: We have resolved an issue where if you generated an updated version of a report you had previously downloaded, then the updated report could be viewed in Trimble Sync Manager but if you attempted to download it the previous version of the report was downloaded.

Resolved issues

• Performance issue on project page: Trimble Sync Manager could generate high CPU usage If the signed in user did not have a personal profile image set. Trimble Sync Manager now searches for a profile image when a project is selected. The image is cached on exit. When logging out the profile image will be cleared.

Enhancements and changes

• Broadcast RTCM transformations: Trimble Sync Manager and Trimble Access version 2018.21 now support the exchange of Broadcast RTCM transformation (.rtd) files.

  Trimble recommends using one data collector per project to upload .rtd files. If multiple data collectors using .rtd files upload them to the same project there is a potential for file conflicts if the .rtd files have the same name.

• Uploading template files that reference geoid files: When you upload a template that references a geoid file, Trimble Sync Manager now checks that the referenced geoid file is available and warns if it is not.
• Deleting projects cannot be undone: If you delete a project from the server it can no longer be recovered. This is consistent with the behavior in Trimble Connect when deleting a project.

Resolved issues

• Server error during sign in: We have resolved an issue where if you did not sign into Trimble Sync Manager for more than 30 days, the following error message appeared: "Server connection not available. Please try again later or check your computer's internet connection."

  Trimble Sync Managercannot automatically update to version 1.2.41 whilst this issue is present. To resolve this issue, you must manually download and install the latest version. Go to https://geospatial.trimble.com/sync-manager and click the Download Trimble Sync Manager now button.

Resolved issues

• Geoid file handling improvements: We have Improved the handling of geoid files in cases where the required geoid file is not readily available on the local PC. Geoid files can be referred to by the file name or by the geoid model specified in the file header. Trimble Sync Manager now uses both references to check that the file is present in the C:\ProgramData\Trimble\GeoData folder and if required it downloads the file.

Resolved issues

• JXL files not available: We have resolved an issue where JXL files were sometimes not available in Trimble Sync Manager when you attempted to view a job that contained UTF-8 characters in the header file, for example European language characters. When this occurred the error message "Job field data is unable to be displayed" appeared.
• JXL files automatically generated: By request, Trimble Sync Manager now automatically generates a JXL file when downloading job data. This function was removed in version 1.2.
• Associated job files now uploaded from the controller: Files stored in the <job name> Files folder on the controller are now automatically uploaded to Trimble Sync Manager when changes to the job are uploaded to the server. These files include GNSS data files (.t01 and .t02 files), image files (.jpg), and scan files (.rwcx and .tsf). You can view these files in the Review job screen.

New features

• IFC file support: You can now add .ifc files as job or project files. On download to the controller, IFC files are supported as active map files in Trimble Access version 2018.20 and later.

Enhancements

• Checking for duplicate filenames: When you attempt to upload a new version of a file that has the same name as an existing file in the same project, Trimble Sync Manager now provides more information about the two files. As well as providing options to rename the file or to share the previously uploaded file of the same name, you can now choose to share the new file as a project file and replace the existing file.
• Indication of broken links to attached files: When you are creating a job, the software now indicates with a red link icon if a referenced file cannot be located on the PC or in the cloud. This may occur when, for example, a file referenced in a template has been moved from its original location. Click on the file name to search for the file. Alternatively, click the link to unlink the file so that you can create the job without it.
• Project map improvements: Trimble Sync Manager now uses the Trimble Map service for map images and locations for improved reliability and performance.

Resolved issues

• This version of Trimble Sync Manager includes a number of fixes to improve the user experience and system reliability when handling multiple versions of files and file updates.
• Updated file not being saved when reworking jobs: We have resolved an issue where if you reviewed a job in Trimble Sync Manager and clicked Rework and then uploaded a new version of a linked file, the file appeared to be updated in Trimble Sync Manager but the updates did not appear on the server and so could not be downloaded to the controller.

New features

• Create jobs from other jobs: You can now create a job from an existing job. In the Project overview screen, select the job and click and select New job from this job. All data in the job, including attached files and survey data from the field, is copied to the new job.

Enhancements

• Support for older file versions: You can now add .jxl, .job, or .jot files to your project or job that were created using any version of the Trimble Access or Trimble Business Center software. If required, the files are automatically converted to the latest file format supported in Trimble Access.
• Checking for duplicate filenames: Trimble Sync Manager now checks that the filenames of all files attached to the project or to jobs in the project are unique. If duplicate filenames are detected you are prompted to rename the file or select the previously uploaded file of the same name to link to.
• Linking georeferenced image files: When you attach georeferenced image files (TIF, JPG, BMP, and PNG) to a project or job, they are now attached as linked files by default, so that they automatically appear in the map when the job is downloaded to the controller.
• Coordinate system settings: We have made several improvements to the tabs in the Coordinate system definition dialog to make them more consistent with the settings in the Trimble Access software.
• User role changes: Team members who are not administrators now cannot edit or modify the properties of the project or of jobs that are not assigned to them. These users are still able to create jobs and update or reassign jobs assigned to them.
• Field rework: When sending a job back to the field for rework, you can now select additional files to accompany the job. Files added in this screen cannot be linked to the job but can be linked in the field once the job updates are downloaded.

Resolved issues

• The Import to Trimble Business Center button in the Review job screen now appears and stays visible as long as the Trimble Business Center software remains open. The button also reappears automatically if the Trimble Business Center software is reopened.
