Cloud Projects: Exporting collected data
Terra Office can be used to export data collected in TerraFlex Cloud projects to a variety of common, geospatial (GIS and CAD) file formats. Raw data is downloaded from the Trimble cloud and the export files are generated locally.
As the export mechanism is different than that in the Trimble Connect Map Viewer, files generated from Terra Office may be subtly different than those generated in the cloud export process, despite starting with the same raw TerraFlex data. Terra Office can be used with any TerraFlex project in the cloud regardless of whether it was created from Map Viewer or the ArcGIS add-ins.
To export TerraFlex data:
-
Run the Terra Office application and Sign in with your Trimble Identity and a valid subscription license to Terra Office Basic or higher.
-
In the Cloud Projects section, click the Export data from a Cloud Project area.
-
Select the Trimble Connect Project where your data resides. Depending on project membership, your Trimble Identity may allow access to one or more projects. Use the region filter buttons as necessary.
-
Select the workspace (TerraFlex Project) that contains the data you want to export. You can switch between Active workspaces and Archived workspaces as necessary.
-
On the last page of the wizard, use Export options to limit the data included in the export. This starts by limiting the raw TerraFlex data that gets downloaded and then converted to the desired file format. The application will only ever include data that was collected or edited in the field; it will not include data that was imported and never touched in the field. As these settings are changed, the Forms to be exported section within Export details will update.
-
To limit the export to the past number of days (based on last edit), use the Only forms collected/updated in the last days checkbox and day counter.
-
To limit the export to forms that have not been previously marked as exported (shares the same mechanism as Map Viewer), use the Only forms which have not been exported previously checkbox.
-
Optionally, if you want to mark this data as exported (so as to use the filter next time), use the Mark exported forms checkbox. As mentioned above, this uses the same mechanism as exists in Map Viewer and marking the forms as exported in either place should yield the same result.
-
Use the Export format dropdown to select the desired export format:
-
GeoPackage: One .gpkg file will be generated for all of the data in the project (using the file name provided).
-
Shapefiles (SHP): Four files will be generated for each layer in the project (using the folder selected).
-
GeoJSON: One .json file will be generated for each layer in the project (using the folder selected). Exports for this format will be in the WGS84 geographic coordinate system unless otherwise configured.
-
CSV: One comma-separated text file will be generated for each layer in the project (using the folder selected).
-
DWG: One CAD file will be generated for all of the data in the project (using the file name provided); data will be represented in layers.
This format cannot be used with projects using a geographic (latitude/longitude) coordinate system.
-
DXF (R10 with blocks): One CAD file will be generated for all of the data in the project (using the file name provided); data will be represented in layers and feature attribution will be represented in the feature blocks.
-
ArcGIS File geodatabase: One file geodatabase (as a folder) will be generated for all of the data in the project (using the folder selected). Template schema will be represented as ArcGIS schema where possible.
-
GML: One .gml file (and corresponding .xsd file) will be generated for all of the data in the project (using the file name provided).
-
-
To include captured photos (images) with the export, use the Download images to local files checkbox. Images will be stored in a relative file path.
-
Use the Save file to entry box and … button to specify a file or folder name (depending on the format) for the exported data.
-
Click Export to generate the file(s). You will be notified when the process completes.
