Local Projects: Creating a project template file

Terra Office can be used to create a TerraFlex Local Project Template file (.tfproj) from an existing TerraFlex project (map workspace). These template files can be transferred to the field device for use with Local Project workflows in TerraFlex.

To create a project template file:

  1. Run the Terra Office application and Sign in with your Trimble Identity and a valid subscription license to Trimble Terra Office Standard or higher.

  2. In the Local Project Workflows section, click the Create a TerraFlex Local Project Template link.

  3. Use the Trimble Connect Project dropdown to select the Trimble Connect project where your data resides. Depending on project membership, your Trimble Identity may allow access to one or more projects.

  4. Use the refreshed TerraFlex Project (map workspace) dropdown to select the actual TerraFlex project that contains the data you want to export. If your project has been archived and isn’t immediately visible in the list, use the Include archived workspaces checkbox to toggle visibility of archived data.

  5. In the Templates section, review the templates used in this project and use the checkboxes to select which ones to include in the (Local Project) template file. By default, all templates will be selected.

  6. In the Real-time GNSS Configurations section, review the real-time GNSS configurations associated with this TerraFlex project and use the checkboxes to select which ones to include in the (Local Project) template file.

  7. If you want to disable data collection for this cloud project (map workspace) at this time, use the Turn off cloud sync for project checkbox. This will archive the map workspace to prevent it from sync’ing to TerraFlex. This may be desirable if this particular map workspace was created solely for the purpose of using it for a TerraFlex Local Project Template file in Terra Office. In that case, you would not want the cloud project available for data collection in TerraFlex.

  8. Click Next to navigate to the next page and note the Details at the top, summarizing the choices made on the first page.

  9. Use the Enable offline GNSS corrections checkbox to control whether or not GNSS measurements are collected for local processing in Terra Office; exports from TerraFlex will not yet be corrected.

  10. Use the Save to TerraFlex Local Project Template file (.tfproj) entry box and button to specify a new or existing file. If you select an existing file, it will be overwritten.

  11. Click Save to generate the file(s). You will be notified when the process completes. The file can then be transferred to the TerraFlex field device for use in the Local Projects workflow.
