Specify Project Units

In WorksManager, unit settings are applied at the project level, rather than the application or user level. This prevents issues when, for example, a user mistakenly makes a field measurement in International feet when the project is using U.S. Survey feet. To ensure consistency across a site, and prevent users from altering these critical parameters, WorksManager restricts modification of project unit settings to Project Managers.

Prerequisites

NOTE: In Trimble Connect, unit settings are applied at the user level, meaning different users working on the same project can have different unit preferences configured (for example, one user might work in meters while another works in inches or feet).
  1. In the main menu, select Settings > Units.

  2. In the Unit System list, select from:

    • Metric - 1 meter = 3.280833 US survey feet; 1 meter = 3.280839 International feet

    • International Foot - 1 International foot = 0.3048 meters; 1 International foot = 0.999998 US survey feet

    • U.S. Survey Foot - 1 US survey foot = 0.3048006096 meters; 1 US survey foot = 1.000002 International feet; this is the official unit of linear measure for NAD-27.

  3. Select a Point Coordinate Order, the order in which northing, easting, and elevation values are displayed and used to import data.

    • P (point ID) - Unique name for the point

    • N (northing) - Y-coordinate, North/South position

    • E (easting) - X-coordinate, East/West position

    • Z (elevation) - Z-coordinate, vertical position

  4. Select Units and Display Precision, the number of significant digits to the right of the decimal point in a numeric value.

  5. For Slopes, select a:

    • Format - Ratio (rise over run), % (percentage of rise over run), or Degrees (angle of the tangent)

    • Display Mode - Slope or Horizontal and Vertical (vertical delta and horizontal delta)
