Self-leveling

Self-leveling is a selectable On/Off option for automatic level compensation. By default, the Self-leveling option is set to On to support automatic registration. It consists of measuring the horizontality (or verticality) of the instrument by measuring the tilt:

  • If the instrument is within a range of +10° and -10° from either side of its vertical axis, the acquired stations are flagged as “Leveled”.

  • If the instrument is within the following ranges, from +10° to +45° and from -10° to -45°, from either side of its vertical axis, the acquired stations are flagged as "Not leveled”.

  • If the instrument is out of the operating ranges, that is, greater than to +45° and -45° from either side of its vertical axis, an error notification appears and prevents data acquisition unless the instrument is upside down. Upside down scans are flagged as leveled if the tilt is within the range of ±10°.
