2026.10

Version 2026.10 of the Trimble® RealWorks software is available from January 2026.

These Release Notes describe the new features and changes available in this release of the Trimble RealWorks software. Alternatively, you can download these release notes as a PDF file.

New features and enhancements

  • Noise Reduction on X7, X9 scans - Trimble Labs: Reduces measurement noise for Trimble X7 and Trimble X9 scans by leveraging point cloud density. This results in a thinner surface representation by minimizing the range noise of the measurements.

  • Adjust Registration: Adjust Registration now applies registration refinement using targets, points, and point clouds in one operation. Station registration links are imported from Trimble Perspective using the .TDX format. If station links are not present, create them using the Auto-Register using Planes command. Extract and match targets using the Target Analyzer prior to running the Adjust Registration tool.

  • Publish to TRCPS: Send data to the Trimble Reality Capture Platform Service for sharing and collaboration of point clouds, panoramic images, and annotations. Annotations are converted to BCF Topics in Trimble Connect.

  • Auto-Segment Reflection: Automatically segment and remove window reflections from selected clouds in the Production mode (requires colorized TZF files). Found in Edit > Cloud > Auto-Segment (TZF-Based).

  • Rename Stations and Objects: Allows batch renaming of a selection of objects using defined patterns. Select objects from the WorkSpace window, right click, and choose Rename entities.

  • Save Camera Positions as View Stations: Saves current camera view parameters (position, zoom, orientation) within annotations for quick restoration of a specific perspective. Create an annotation and choose Capture to save the camera position. Select the annotation from the WorkSpace, right click, and choose Go To Viewpoint.

  • Capture screen in Annotate: Captures and attaches the current 3D view as an image directly to the annotation. Found in the Attach Image section of the Annotation creation menu.

  • Proximity Target Matching: Automated matching of registration targets across scans using a distance criterion. This is useful when fewer than 3 common targets are present between overlapping stations.

Trimble Labs features are experimental tools made available for early use. While these features have met our standards for quality and robustness, they remain in a trial phase. Trimble reserves the right to modify or remove Labs features based on user feedback and technical evolution.

Trimble does not support FARO Premium scanners with Trimble RealWorks or other Trimble products because the updated API for the FARO .fls format has not been provided to Trimble. Users can choose to prevent the installation of the outdated .fls library through custom installation options.

Resolved Issues

Register & Alignment:

  • Model-Cloud Alignment: Improved alignment results when working with low-density meshes.

  • Model-Cloud Alignment: Automatically bring objects closer together if they are too far apart when the tool is opened.

  • Adjust Registration: Fixed an issue where intra-links of a moving group were removed after performing registration.

  • Adjust Registration: Improved the link creation workflow. You can now multi-select several stations at once to automatically generate links across the entire selection, removing the need to create links manually between individual pairs.

  • Adjust Registration: Improved performance when displaying the registration graph in large projects.

  • Adjust Registration: Resolved an issue where "bad links" were being created during the adjustment process.

  • Adjust Registration: The tool now remembers the user's preferred divider positions between sessions.

  • Cloud-Based Registration: Fixed an issue where Intensity-Based Blending was not applied to clouds within the common viewer

  • Import and Register: Prevented group renaming in Import and Register as it was causing multiple issues.

  • Adjust Registration: Removed green color for isolated stations in the Report.

  • Target Analyzer: Added the ability to pick 3D points directly from the 3D view even when TZF data is present.

  • Registration: Removed redundant warnings when opening registration tools. Note that stations after Adjust Refine will still delete links as the spatial relationship is no longer valid.

Export & File Handling:

  • E57 Export: Fixed random issue when doing a 3D inspections e57 export with Inspection Color option (true color was exporter).

  • File Association: Fixed Windows file associations for Trimble RealWorks (TRW) files.

  • RMX Support: RealWorks now correctly recognizes and reads .RMX file extensions in uppercase.

Stability & Performance:

  • Project Loading: Resolved a random crash that occurred when opening existing projects.

  • Fitting Tool: Resolved a crash that occurred when opening the tool with specific project data.

  • Graphics Compatibility: Fixed an issue where certain NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards were not being properly recognized.

User Interface & Preferences:

  • Change Color: Fixed an issue where applying the "Change Color" command to a folder would not update the colors of the point clouds or geometries contained within it. These changes now correctly propagate to all folder contents.

  • Preferences: Changed the default value for decimal places in user settings to 3 digits.

  • Registration Workflow: Updated various UI elements to provide better clarity during the registration process.

  • Target-Based Registration: Updated the "Target-Based Error" check to provide more accurate feedback.

If you are experiencing random crashes or stuttering issues with RTX Ada generation cards, especially with NVIDIA drivers version 572.xx or newer, try deactivating the "Threaded optimization" option in the NVIDIA control panel. This has been reported to resolve stability issues in multithreaded OpenGL applications. For more details, you can refer to the NVIDIA Developer Forums.
