Accuracy specifications
Accuracy specifications without Tilt Compensation
The current SPS986 and R780 specification for Real-Time Kinematic (RTK up to 30 km) without Tilt Compensation active is:
-
Horizontal accuracy 8 mm + 1 ppm RMS (0.026 ft + 1 ppm RMS)
-
Vertical accuracy 15 mm + 1 ppm RMS (0.05 ft +1 ppm RMS)
Accuracy specifications with Tilt Compensation
Tilt Compensation adds an additional 8 mm (0.026 ft) + 0.5 mm per degree of tilt RMS to the horizontal RTK accuracy specified above.
Vertical accuracy specifications do not change when Tilt Compensation is activated.
Accuracy specifications using Tilt Compensation and running the Plumb Pole routine
For the best accuracy when Tilt Compensation is active, run the Plumb Pole routine, remove the quick release from the survey pole, and ensure all the joints on the pole are screwed tight (that is, there is no wobble in the pole). Following these recommendations can enable you to obtain horizontal accuracy comparable with the RTK specification.
For further details on the accuracy of measurements, see Measurement methods.
Plumb Pole routine
Tilt Compensation works out of the box. The Plumb Pole routine is a feature to achieve increased horizontal accuracy when Tilt Compensation is turned on. For more information, see The Plumb Pole routine.
