Enter an Elevation
Use the Elevation control to specify an elevation. You can snap to any 3d object to specify the elevation. "Elevation" appears in the Status Bar when the control is active.
Elevation controls give you access to these commands on the context menu:
To specify an elevation:
- Pick an object in a graphic view to use its elevation. If you pick a line, the elevation will be interpolated along the slope of the line, based on the position you pick.
- Type a value or a point ID in the Elevation box.
- Right-click in a graphic view, select a snap command from the context menu, and specify the necessary parameters.
To specify a relative elevation:
- If you are entering an elevation relative to a reference object or from a last vertex, you can enter the elevation using a vertical angle (and distance) from the reference line/vertex. The vertical angle can be specified in the elevation control in a variety of ways, including: nadir angle (N45), horizon angle (H45), zenith angle (Z45), percent (2%), and ratio (1:50).
- In addition to the vertical angle, the elevation control supports basic math operations, +-*/, e.g., you can specify "%5 + 3" which means 5% of the offset plus 3, with an offset of 100 the resulting elevation would be 8. This method has no effect when the elevation is not relative to another elevation.
