Workflow: Import Digital Level Data

Import into your project and edit level data collected with a Trimble DiNi digital level.

Following are the basic steps for this workflow. For more detailed instructions, see View and Edit Level Data.

Before importing digital level data, ensure your project is configured correctly in the Default Standard Errors > Leveling section of the Project Settings dialog.

For example, you can specify the default standard error to use for each station setup, and for 1 km of double leveling.

Use the Import pane to select and import the digital level data files into your project. Review the properties displayed in the Settings section at the bottom of the pane and make any necessary changes prior to clicking the Import button.

Note: If necessary, use the Level Editor to import level data into your project by manually typing (keying) it in while referencing a spreadsheet or other type of document containing the data.

Review the information displayed in the Level Editor dialog, which displays during import. If necessary, make any of the following changes prior to clicking the OK button:

  • Merge level runs.
  • Adjust level runs.
  • Select to allow or prevent network adjustment.
  • Select, deselect, or rename points.
  • Change the elevation type for any points.

After import, you can re-open the Level Editor dialog to review information and make additional changes. In the Project Explorer, right click the imported data file and select Level Editor.

After import is complete, view project data in the Project Explorer and the various graphic and spreadsheet views available from the View menu. Double-click any object to view its properties in the Properties pane.
