Create and Edit a Corridor Boring Log
Use the Create Corridor Boring Log command to enter locations along the corridor where you have core sample data describing the in situ strata of earthen materials. Before you create boring logs, use the Define Corridor Strata command to define the strata that were encountered on-site. Once you have entered the depth or thickness of each stratum at each boring log location, the Corridor Mass Haul uses the boring log data to determine the volume of each material that is cut from the surface.
Prerequisites:
- License: See the Subscription Plans page. For a license matrix by command, see the License page in the TBC Community. Also see View and manage licensed features.
- Defined Corridor Strata
To access the command:
- Select Create Corridor Boring Log.
The Create Corridor Boring Log pane displays.
Options:
- Make sure that you have defined the strata for the corridor. If not, you can click the Define Corridor Strata icon on the pane's toolbar to open the Define Corridor Strata dialog. If surfaces have been used to define the stratum thickness in the define corridor strata dialog then boring logs will not be used.
- Enter the location of the boring log by:
- Location - enter the coordinate of the boring log
- Station and Offset distance - enter the station and offset from the specified alignment. This option is available when you have a corridor selected in the Corridor list.
- Enter the location of the boring log by:
- Boring Log Stratum settings - Click the button to display the Corridor Boring Log Stratum Settings dialog. Enter the thickness or depth of each material in the defined strata. The final layer does not have a thickness applied as it is considered to be an infinite thickness.
- Project Settings - Click the Project Settings icon to enter the Project Settings for the corridor strata. These settings determine if the boring log is considered in the corridor strata calculations. When determining the strata at a station, a search is done for boring logs before and after the station. When a boring log is found, a search is made for additional boring logs within the Boring log discovery tolerance and the Boring log max offset of the first boring log found. See Understanding Corridor Strata.
Note: Boring logs are used to approximate the strata perpendicular to the horizontal alignment at a given station. Best results will be achieved if boring logs are taken either side of the alignment and are within the Boring Log discovery tolerance.
To edit a boring log's stratum setting:
- Select the boring log.
- In the right context menu, select Edit.
- Edit the thickness or depth of the stratum.
