Transfer Corridor Mass Haul Data to TILOS

The goal of this TILOS workflow is to guide you through the process of transferring data from a balanced corridor mass haul to TILOS scheduling software (version 8.0 or later).

Prerequisites:

  • TILOS software installed on your computer
  • Prior to importing corridor mass haul data into TILOS for the first time navigate to the Tours and Tutorials page on TCC. In the Training Videos, Tutorials and Data Sets section open Corridor Mass Haul > Data-TILOS files. Copy these files to the TILOS template directory:
    • Trimble Mass Haul.hst
    • Trimble Mass Haul (feet).hst

Workflow for Analyzing a Corridor Mass Haul

Return to this workflow when you are finished with the Corridor Mass Haul Workflow.

Only the materials balanced will be exported to TILOS.

2.

Use the TILOS Mass Maul exporter to export the corridor mass haul balances as an (.xml) file.

Export TILOS files

In the Settings group, enter the size that you want the mass areas for earthworks sites to appear in TILOS. An entry of 30 will create a mass area 30m long on the distance axis in the TILOS mass haul diagram. Cut and fill mass areas get their size from the cut range and the fill range for the balance.

3.

Run the TILOS software.

4.

In TILOS, create a new project.

  1. Select File > New in the TILOS menu.
  2. Select the Trimble Mass Haul or Trimble Mass Haul (feet) template from the list.
  3. Click OK.

The TILOS Mass Haul XML exporter outputs values in project units.

When a TILOS project is created select:

  • Trimble Mass Haul template if your Business Center project units are in meters.
  • Trimble Mass Haul (feet) if your Business Center project units are in feet.

5.

In TILOS, in the Settings for New Project dialog enter the project settings. Click Apply.

Make sure you enter appropriate start and end distances for the data you are importing.

6.

In TILOS, save the new project.

Enter the file name and click Save.

7.

In TILOS, import the TILOS (.xml) file created in step 2.

  1. Select File> Import to import a Trimble Mass Haul (.xml) file. The Import wizard displays.
  2. Work through the Import Wizard selecting:
  • XML as the Import Format.
  • the TILOS (.xml) file created in step 2 as the Data Source.
  • Use profile in data file as the method of specifying the profile file.
  1. Press F5 to display the TILOS Mass Haul graphs.

A profile file defines how data in the TILOS (.xml) file is imported. Business Center includes the profile information in the exported xml file.

The following graphs appear:

  • Vertical Alignment profile and ground profile
  • Instantaneous Cut and Fill
  • Total usable ordinate from the mass haul diagram.
  • Balanced mass haul cut and fill zones. Horizontal haul lines can be dragged up or down for easier viewing.

8.

In TILOS, schedule mass haul balances.

  1. In the mass haul diagram showing balanced cut and fill zones, right click a haul line. Select Create Cut and Fill tasks.
  2. In the Task creation dialog enter the date you want the task to begin. Click OK.
  3. Press F5 to update Mass Haul Task graph.
  4. Continue this process until tasks have been created for all Mass Haul balances.

Cut and Fill tasks can be created after haulage types have cut and fill task templates specified.

To update the settings for the Tasks graph, in the menu select Tools>options>Project (2) and update settings in the Mass Haulage settings.
